Title: what happens if you die while out of body?
Post by: thenoob on July 04, 2006, 20:40:43
I was thinking about how becoming an expert in the astral would make death a less scary concept,

but then I wondered, what would happen if one was out of body and their physical body died? Would they be stranded?

Where else are they going to go? Detroit?

Stranded? LOL, I think of being here on earth as being stranded.

An interesting question, but not one we'll be able to answer for certain - unless it happens to us .

Well people die in their sleep all the time. What about them?

Well, I assume that the same thing would happen as if you were to die any other way.  It would simply be that your astral body would already be away from your physical body.  Keep in mind that your physical body isn't exactly left helpless.  When you project, your mind makes a copy of itself (one for your astral form and one for your physical form) each of which is capable of full functionality.  It is simply that your ego (consciousness) chooses to pay attention to the one in the astral form.  There is no reason to be scared of death anyway.  Don't call me crazy, but I wouldn't exactly mind to go ahead and get it out of the way.  I mean, Earth isn't exactly the happiest place in the universe.  Death is only the end of the beginning.

I hope so moljinir
since I haven't OBE yet I am taking everyones word for it based on their strong conviction.

I was close this morning to OBE but I was overwhelmed with fear as my body was falling asleep while my mind was awake. I thought I'd be able to beat that fear, but it was still very real... It's like saying 'It won't hurt if my arm is chopped off' ... there is inherent fear there.

And like death too I no longer think I can just die and not be scared of it.

One thing that comforts me is that we all will die, therefore nature won't make it a terrible experience
