Where to look for the "Spiritual Underground People"?

Hello there,
I am pretty much on my own when it comes to discuss spirituality, occultism, out-of-body experiences, dreams and anything related to esoterism. I am trying to find people who share the same interests as me. I started to read Robert Monroe first book where he says he found himself in the same situation and he speaks of the "Underground". Where do I find those spiritual underground societies of people who are involved in the same bizarre activities as me? IRL not just on the Internet, I want to meet real people! Thanks and I wish you a beautiful day!

It was called "Underground" by Monroe from his viewpoint. I remember I also wondered about this expressions. It shows he was totally unfamiliar with esoteric groups and knowledge at that time. Also one must bear in mind the time he wrote about this (60ies or even earlier?) when there was certainly less than today. Today spiritual practive is much more open .. and much more diverse as it seems. Of course one might call some groups of the magickal or occult (including "bad ones", such as satanists, black magicians, etc.) still "underground". But it depends on how you define or call it, then anything apart from mainstream might be "underground".

If you want to meet people "alive" instead of on forums like this one, well, I am sure there are many communities in your area, too, as they are everywhere. But I agree, it is difficult since spiritual practice groups are also very heterogenous and they might not serve your specific interests (e.g. AP/OBE). Some meet to do seances, some do reiki or other healing modalities, some just do yoga (including spiritual practice), some just meditate, some religious groups just discuss. So, it's not so easy. I did also in my life not find another projector in-the-flesh so to speak. It's because no one speaks about it "officially" (mainstream). Still, I would not call it "underground" as it pertains to hidden information. It is pretty out in the open given the many books on the subjects and the many websites on the internet.

Hello zagadka! I am in a similar situation for the most part.  But then i became friends with someone, and only after we talked for awhile did we realize we both had interests in spirituality and now shes something of my spiritual mentor. Try being open about spirituality when talking to people you've known for awhile and go a little out of your comfort zone. Youre sure to meet someone. Im part of an occult online group and one of the members lives in my area and invited me to an offline astrology study group. So even online connections can become real life connections. Good luck!

The people that Monroe talks about are what has evolved into us. The internet has allowed communication to flow more freely. Back in Monroe's day people had to actually meet up in person and didn't have the availability internet allows.

Classes and organisations aren't the answer... again the type of people Monroe speaks of are those that move behind the organisations free of them... again YOU... WE are those people.

Monroe outgrew the 'Underground' and instead turned to his doctor and a colleague to document test.

There are many more a.p. forums , and sites . They are easy to find , or I can post some links , if asked . Robert Monroe got in to a.p. by accident .  His 3 books are worth reading . If you really want to meat face to face others in to a.p. , metaphysics , ect. your best is at local new age book stores . You will find all kind of people there .  desert rat

Thanks guys for your advices! I figured joining a yoga class would be a good idea to start, so I am currently giving a go to free classes. I tried yoga & meditation yesterday. I got to talk with the teacher at the end and I asked him about dream yoga. He wasn't familiar with OOBE, but he found it interesting. I'm going to choose a class or two and join... hot yoga seems pretty cool for our cold winters here in Québec!

Coincidence, I had free time at noon and want shopping, I had nothing to buy, but I met a very good friend I haven't seen in ages. We both have interests in meditation and spirituality! I often meet him during classes dreams. We decided to go try the yoga class together tomorow! As a part of my pre-sleep routine, I write questions, goals, healing, etc. I want to receive. I have been writing the same question as in my thread, I seem to be getting answers!

Well I will keep looking, I will check out if I can find a new age shop in my area... I will keep hanging around here too of course. Desert-rat, please, feel free to post the other AP forums! If anyone else has any other clue, that would be appreciated! ;)

meetup.com has quite a few groups within my area, including people interested in Seth, Robert Monroe, mediums, New Age folks, etc. You might have a look there.

Thanks desert-rat, I will check them out when I have some time. Teagueblue, no meetup in my area, I suppose meetup.com is in the U.S. while I am in Québec in Canada. I will keep searching and I will find the people I am seeking. I will ask at the yoga, once I am familiar with the classes and look into new age stores, I think there is at least one around, and I will see my old friend who share similar interests.

Hear are links to 3 stores I found   in Montreal , I know nothing about the stores .  http://www.qype.co.uk/place/332814-Magical-Blend-Melange-Magique-Montreal    http://www.nicholashoare.com/   http://www.paragraphbooks.com/     I did not get vary many stores on my search , so I would think there were  not    very many new age stores in Quebec , hear in my US state of Arizona , there are many . I also found this meat up link http://new-age.meetup.com/cities/ca/qc/montréal/   . desert rat

Thanks for you looking up for me! Montreal is a far and I don't go to Québec often! I am closer to the Maine if I pass through New Brunswick. I was suggested to look at the newspaper yesterday, that I would find something interesting. There was a small publicity for a dream and writing workshop. Funnily enough, there are both fields I am involved in! Then I was told to look further, that I would find something else. I found an article for a "Yoga and Kosha" workshop! The kosha are supposed five bodies and the workshop is about our multidimensional nature... it's exactly the place where one could find other projectors! I hope I can take a free day from school to attend!

So for anyone out there seeking to meet people who share our strange interests... look into the NEWSPAPERS!

If you are wondering what I mean by being told to check the newspapers... it may seem strange but theses days, in my head, I find another part of myself, which through my thoughts has a wiser tonality, and this "Higher I" tells me "do this, do that, you should check this out... pass through there, try to do this, etc.". I know it's bonked, but my wiser self is so often correct! Sometimes I refuse to follow his advices and after I think I should have... but he is always glad I use my free will. Of course there is no "He", it is just a wiser intuitional "I"!
