There are things in this world and the next which should always remain free, to "trap" it would bring great pain to the trapper.

Perhaps learning to communicate with it would be a good idea, but only with proper protection. Anyone here play the card game Magic: The Gathering? There's a card called Will-O-The Wisp, and its color is black, which represents evil. I am not trying to imply that it is indeed evil, just saying that's how the makers of the game seemed to see it.

Can this mysterious being float through walls or glass windows? My friend once saw a small red ball of light that burned a hole in his screen. He believed it to be a UFO but I'm starting to think that maybe it was a more concentrated form of Will O' the Wisp, or some kind of etheric phenomenon.

mattrox

had it indeed been etheric would it not have left no marks ?

Most interesting, and I appreciate the article.

My sister has a book titled "A Witch's Guide to Faery Folk" which lists general information, plus 255 different kinds of...err..faery folk, including generic details on them plus ways to summon them, as well as best uses.

I remember being semi-interested and flipping over it, and I did see "Will O' The Wisp" in there. I'm actually interested in summoning it, or some of the other entities listed.

I subscribe to the notion that everything happens for a reason, so for that reason I respect all the events that have and will impact my life. So far I've been able to link a great many of them together, despite them being months apart in some cases.

I've also got a lot of friends who are very adept in protection and cleansing and similiar protective skills, so in terms of fearing the wrath of such entities, I would not be worried. Granted, fear may come into it if I realise I am currently in a human body.

For that same reason, I do not fear death. Its just a transitional state, and one i'll be more than happy to embrace when I must. Thus I believe the only thing that would make me afraid of death would be your standard human emotions clouding my reason and judgement.

I dont know why but I just felt the need to clarify my position, and also to put anyone at ease in case they wanted to warn me about the problems that may occur with me dabbling into these areas.

Just my thoughts, also if anyone wants me to copy the section the book has on Will O the Wisps', just ask!

Regards,

-Alex

I have seen many at old ruins on the east coast that my family explored and one has fallowed me and resides with me and my family.

My husband has seen two others playing with my friend during the late night hours.

volcomstone

how big are these will-o-wisps?   even since Ive been able to open my third eye Ive noticed small "sparks" of light that float throughout my room/house

they will catch my attention in my periphiel vision and then I would focus on them for a bit as they float around, sometimes I will see them when my eyes are closed,

they are very small, maybe a centimeter at the most, but they more often than not most visible at the "ungodly" hours of the night, and seem to grow most powerfull during lunar phenomenon (ie full-moon)

Im not sure what they are, perhaps these in particular are created by me, but I haven't seen any such "will-o-wisps) as described by the story, such entities seem to invoke fear, but fear will never accomplish anything

This reminded me of orbs.  They are perhaps Will O' The Wisps with less energy.  I haven't seen Will O' The Wisps but my dad has taken two pictures (both digital) of orbs and have seen orbs when I tried to see the life aura of a forest I instead saw these white balls that I think were flying into the woods.  Interesting that when my dad catches them on digital the look like they are 6"-8" in diameter eyeballs.

volcomstone

APguy- that is so weird you mentioned that, today I was walking my dog in the forest, and I was opening my third eye, I noticed numerous orbs and bright flashes,  these orbs I can see at almost anytime, almost anywhere,

latley Ive also noticed dust partices, and other small hairs floating in the air very strangely, almost trying to catch my attention,

anyhow, someone one this site said that orbs ARE willow wisps, but thats not to say that they're are various different "sub-species",

APGuy

I forgot to mention that I've heard when moving at super high speeds spirits of people who have passed on and projectors take on the form of an orb.  This reminds me of Jeff Mash saying he couldn't see before while moving at this super high speed, perhaps because he would think it odd to see without energy eyes.  This time perhaps he stayted in shape.  I also think that perhaps they can be astral wildlife too.  Weird how they look like eyeballs though.  I remember once seeing one above me in meditation (not sure if it was a Will O' The Wisp or if it was an orb or something else.)  It looked like an Egypian eye thing with the swirls on the sides and it was red with no visible orb.  I could go into detail about what happened with it if you wanted but I'd be straying from the topic considering the fact that it had no orb part just the eye part that orbs often times have.

Elementals Wilo O Wisps Orbs are all the same things. It is when A living thing invests life(knowing or not) into a dead thing. Depending on the amount of energy they can grow stronger. APGuy what you saw was a common lesser demon trying to turn physical how long ago did you see it.

You know those wierd lights you see in pictures you might take at a funeral? I wonder if those have anything to do with them.

I often see forms of light with my third eye too. They have the same descriptions as in the article. nothing I can see physically though.

Aries

I dont think I have ever seen a WillowWisp but I am open to the idea of them existing. I have a dog and some times in the middle of the night he will run inside the house from the yard freaking out and barking and like going insane.
Does anyone know if animals can sense them?

I saw it some time in december and I'll mention again if the beginner of the thread asks I'll post what happened here and if anyone else wants I'll PM them the story.  However interesting this story may be I fear that it might stray from the topic however the topic is up to the beginner of the thread so...

Goodness, gracious - balls of fire over Spain

January 6, 2004

Hundreds of Spaniards have reported seeing balls of fire or incandescent objects fall from the sky, emergency centres said.

Some of the objects are believed to have sparked fires. The phenomenon was reported on a stretch reaching from Galicia in the north-west to the Balearic Islands in the east.

No injuries were reported.

In northern Leon province, residents reported seeing a ball of fire light up the sky and explode in a mountainous area, igniting a fire and shaking house windows.

A similar explosion was heard near Palencia in the north.

Firefighters extinguished a blaze behind a roadside discotheque in the Castellon area.

Rescuers searched for the wreckage of airplanes or unusual rocks in several places, but found no clues.

The National Meteorological Institute said that its radars and satellite images showed nothing abnormal.

Aviation authorities said they had no knowledge of any plane crash.

Astronomers at the University of Santiago de Compostela said they suspected a meteorite.

Astronomer Jose Angel Docobo said he suspected a meteorite weighing from 50 to 100 tonnes, which would have disintegrated on entering the atmosphere.

He said the flying objects could also be parts of a rocket or satellite, but deemed that less likely.

Those balls of fire sound like a form of rare lightening but still it is a strange phenomenon.

Yes it happened in 2003.  If you want any more information please contact me on a PM because I find bringing a thread off topic to be rude.[|)]

I saw this elemental years ago in my old country, has anyone else seen one. I also picked up the info below and find it very facinating.

From: "gene d. matlock" (genmat@gte.net)

Nearly everyone who was raised or still resides in a rural part of the world has heard of, seen, and/or experienced a type of free-floating light. Not only have I observed (but not experienced) phenomena like this light, I was raised on stories about it and its power. Here in the United States, we call it "Will o' the Wisp" and "Spooklight." Some authorities believe it is just fluorescent gases rising out of swamps or old graveyards. However, it is often seen in desert environments. Others claim that it is "ball lightning." But "ball lightning" occurs during violent electrical storms and lasts for only a few seconds. The "Will o' the Wisp" appears to have elemental reasoning powers and always remains intact. It's name, "Will o' the Wisp," is particularly interesting: Will = "self-motivated;" Wisp = "fragment; small piece." This means that those who named it believed it to be part of an even larger power existing on this earth. The Hindus call the "Will o' the Wisp" Bramaracokh. I believe they are right in regarding it as a non-corporeal life form having elemental intelligence and willpower.

Although it occasionally journeys about during the day, it tends to be shy, usually hiding behind rocks or within caves during the day, coming out at night. Like the legendary vampire, it often seeks out life forms, preferably humans, and tries to attach itself to them. Depending on its victim, it can burn him to a crisp, energize him, or heal him of diseases defying the abilities of our best medical scientists.

There is a popular American folktale about this ball of light, which was made popular in the classical "Uncle Remus" stories that children everywhere love to read. This tale seeks to explain why it seeks to attach itself to human beings. According to the story, the Devil once ascended to the earth' s surface, to take a certain clever and sinful old Black man to Eternal Hell. The old Black man challenged the Devil to a card game in which the Devil, if he won, could take him to Hell. However, if he won, he would earn a few more precious years of life. Being a sporting individual, the Devil agreed to play cards with the old man. The old man easily proved that he could even outsmart Satan.

A few years later, the Devil returned to reclaim the old man's soul. Again, the old man persuaded the Devil to gamble for his soul. Again, the Devil lost. Years later, the Devil returned to finally close escrow on this wily old man's soul. And again, the old man suckered him into playing another game of cards. After losing for the third time, the Devil told him, "You're too clever to me. I certainly don't want you living in my hellish home. I' d eventually lose my business to you, and you'd be in charge. From now on, I grant you eternal life. Enjoy it to the max!"

After several centuries of enjoying a riotous lifestyle of wine, women, gaming, and song, the old man grew bored with his eternal life. Therefore, he decided to try to get Heaven or Hell to take him in. Neither wanted anything to do with him. For that reason, we often see him wandering about in the night, lighted lantern in hand, looking for anyone willing to accept him as an eternal houseguest. All you have to do is just speak to him or let him know you're in the neighborhood. Once he knows where the nearest life form is, preferably human, he pounces upon it. If the life form is pure of heart, the light from the old man's lamp may either restore it to youth or heal it instantly of any terminal disease. However, more often than not, it will burn its host to a crisp! Small animals nearly always get cooked by the "Will 'o the Wisp," a fact proving it isn't particularly "environmentally aware."

A number of years ago, the newspapers described how this "Will o' the Wisp" slipped through a partially opened window of a certain lady's bedroom in Southern Louisiana. The lady was in bed, recuperating from a serious illness. This ball of light lost no time in leaping on top of the woman, nearly burning her to death. After that, it escaped the way it entered.

A friend of mine told me about his first experience with this energy. One night he had to walk home from his job in a Tuskaloosa, Alabama bakery. Upon entering the driveway beside his parent's home, he saw the "Will o' the Wisp" floating in the yard. Terrified about that light's potential to do him bodily harm, he ran back to the bakery and spent the night there.

One night, when my wife and I were bathing in the famous health-giving waters of the Pah Tempe health resort in Hurricane, Utah, we saw this light shining from a crevasse in a nearby cliff. Pah Tempe sits atop a dormant volcano from which it receives its famous waters. For this reason, I have often wondered whether or not this energy can get trapped in certain igneous rocks, just as prehistoric insects and plants became frozen in time within amber.

My favorite story is the one that Mom and Dad repeated over and over while I was growing up. My parents met each other and started going together as teenagers in the Texas Panhandle, during the oil boom of the 1920s. Dad badly wanted to kiss Mom, but he was too shy to find the courage and a "morally upright" reason to demonstrate his romantic inclinations.

Dad and his high school friends liked to drive out to the country at night and tease a certain "spooklight" that always left its lair about 10:00 P.M. As soon as it started wandering around, the boys would scream and dare it to catch them. Whenever the light got too close, the boys would crank up their old Model T Fords and speed back to town. They also played a certain game to see who was the biggest sissy. The boys who fled back to town first were the "sissies." The "macho-men" were those who let the "Spooklight" get too close for comfort.

One evening, Dad decided to exploit this "spooklight's" potentials and use it to get an excuse to kiss Mom. He invited Mom out to the country to see this mysterious light. At ten o'clock (it was scrupulously punctual), it left its hiding place and went out on its nocturnal search for life forms. When it came into view, Dad cried out, "Hey, you! Come over here! We're waiting for you. Catch us if you can!"

The light suddenly paused and started floating toward them. Mom screamed and embraced Dad. Dad got his first kiss. They both got out of there.

What we call "The Spark of Life" may be an unknown energy which should more realistically be included in the Table of Elements and not deified as it were some kind of divine being. We should find some way to trap it. We may then discover that Life Force is not as mysterious, elusive and "otherworldly" as we've been led to believe.
