"read that just as fast as usual"

I read it half as fast as I normally read. The right side of brains shouldnt have much trouble with the reordering, but the left side should be very confused.

That is amusing.  I didn't even really notice that is was all screwed up at the begining.  It was not until it said that all the letters could be messed up that I realized that thye were.

That's just wrong that the brain can function like that.

Ok, I had this book when I was like 10 or so... and it had these two sentences.

The sentences were split with this line.  One half went up, the other went down.  Surprisingly, you only need the bottom half of a sentence to read it all!

More than 75% of the sentence is down low.  So when you split it like that, it's better just to see the bottom!

A little bit OT.

Actually, most people read several words simultaneously, not just one. The optimal way to read is several words at once. When I read ebooks, I make the font and browser width such that there are about 7 words per line, and I can perceive the whole line without moving my eyes. Then I can read without having to move my eyes left and right, and simply scan the page downwards. BTW another important related thing: when reading, it is important to keep your mouth muscles relaxed and not try to "verbalize" what you are reading. If you do that, prepare your reading speed to quadruple.

Aoccdrnig to rscheearch at an Elingsh uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer is at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a  toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae we do not raed ervey lteter by itslef but the wrod as a wlohe.
