It also requires that there be no expectation of speed. Their free shipping means waiting about two weeks to get books that say they normally ship in 24 hours. I tried an order with the free shipping when the minimum purchase was around $50. The delay was longer than I had wanted to wait.

Is the estimated delivery date pretty accurate? It usually is on paid shipping but this is the first time I am getting the free shipping so I am not sure.  It is telling me they should be delivered at the end of next week. A week and a half is well worth the wait for me to save $22, and that does not include the savings I get from avoiding the 9.25% sales tax we have here.

Hi Fallnangel177,

I realize it is as tuff as ever to make the dollar go far these days. What with earnings and job security going down, the cost of living is going up.Its no wonder Cos like WalMart ,Amozon,B&N ext are doing so well. You mention the savings you get from Amozon in comparison to the local store owened by some guy whos trying to make a living.Keep in mind that this is infact a trend that is slowly strangling ourselfs to death."DISCOUNT" at whos exspense? The Children in labor lawless countrys? The little guy forced out by big corps who upon monopolizing the industry will drive prices up so high the word discount will cease in the dictionary?
While some people at this fourm are concerned with *BIG* brother coming and taking there guns away,I say guns my butt. How about this instead,*BIG* brother and its Corpprate sluts that *WE* might all day be working for will enslave us with something just short of poverty.(this will effect our children more than us)
(did I hear someone say "Umbrella" ;)

Its in the news every day,big money merging, laws bending for the big corps, little guys going under and last but not least retierment age is getting pushed up!

Gotta go or id contiue.Btw,im not riding your post and should it appear that way I apoligse.I too have used these discount stores from time to time.Yet I try and avoid them at all cost and never promote there services!

Peace!

Thanks to Ebay, I found an online book dealer, Mind & Body Books, which sells books at large discounted rates: Astral Dynamics is $5.93 and they can get PPSD for about $7.95.  They have a variety subjects, which most of us would find useful and interesting.  Check them out at http://www.mbbookstore.com/store .  Their NORMAL shipping is high, in my opinion.  However, if you ask them about US Media Mail shipping, I think they will do it (it's MUCH CHEAPER).

Cheers!

Andy,
I totally understand what you are saying. It is a cycle. Things are kind of bad right now so many of us have to watch our money. Sadly this can put some of the smaller businesses out of business as the larger ones are more able to lower prices. And it is possible that once competition goes down the larger companies will raise prices. But there will be those consumers who will not like those prices and seek other outlets of products, hence new small businesses arise bringing competition back and thus lowering the prices again. So there is not much to really fear, unless there are changes in law to give these giant corporations total control. Things will get better some day and we will have money to spend on speed. If I had the money I would not mind spending a little extra to give to the smaller businesses, but right now I have to watch my money and look to good deals. If you have not been effected by the economic trouble as of late then I am very happy for you.

Thanks for the link, amcturbo. I will check it out.

Well it seems that their projected delivery date is a little off. The books were delivered yesterday. That is less than a week delivery time! I am not sure if I got lucky or if they just over project to account for delays so people will not get upset. Either way it worked out good for me.

I just thought I would share the following with everyone since there have been several posts about books and suggested reading. I surfed over to amazon.com today and discovered they are offering free shipping on select books, which seems to be a large selection, as long as you place an order over $25. A lot of their books also have about 30% off. I ordered Astral Dynamics, a Celtic book suggested by Tisha, and another book I had been considering buying all for less than I could buy them at any local bookstore. So if you have been thinking about buying some books now might be the time to check out amazon.com.

I don't mean to be promoting the site, but I wanted to possibly help a few people save some of their hard earned money.
