I've been trying to astral project for a few nights now, but to no avail. I'm very relaxed, focused on my breathing, I may feel VERY small vibrations in my hands or feet, but that's it so I don't know if I can call them 'vibrations'. Most of my body otherwise, is still numb, however I can still willingly move it.
I know I shouldn't be expecting the vibrational state to happen, but that leads to sleep paralysis which is the only way for beginners to experience astral projection. I've also tried listening to some binaural beats, and have fallen asleep three times.
I also frequently get a faster heartbeat, it's not due to fear or panic, but it keeps going back and forth from subtle minor vibrations or to nothing at all. I know about the various techniques, but they're practically useless to me until I haven't entered sleep paralysis. Last night, I tried repeating affirmations (Mind awake, body asleep) while listening to binaural beats and focusing on each breath, to which I unfortunately fell asleep.
Any tips?

try sleeping for a few hours first then try it,sounds like your almost there i donte try before bed unless iv done an hour of meditation first. You can xan astral project from a dream you just have to meditate and just keep asking during the day what im doing how did i get there what is my name, Keep doing it like realty checks.

I'll be trying that in the weekend since I have to wake up for school around 5/6 every morning, thanks for the tip.
I think it's very important to not get frustrated if it doesn't come soon. Just keep in mind that there are people out there (me for example) that have been trying for a year, and I'm sure some people even longer. Never give up and try new things. The Wake Back to Sleep method works very well because it is basically a fool proof way of making sure you are deeply physically relaxed. With regards to energy work, it took me about 5 months before I could raise strong energy through my whole body, chakras included, so just give it time.
Good luck
Lots of good advice here. I had on oobe 2 days ago and it was when I woke up at 6am. I reset the alarm clock stayed up for just a bit then went back to bed and just like that I got out from in a dream. Persistence does seem to help. But it seems that the days when I desperately want one, I don't get it. Then on the day when I least expect it I go oob. Maybe I will gain more control over it, but for now I'm new and I'll take this anyday. Sleeping for a 4 or 5 hour period and then waking up seems to work best for me. I get up and read about oob or post on forums. Drink some tea that seems so strong it tastes like earwax, LOL. Then lay down and do energy work and make my body heavy. Hit hypnolgia, then fall asleep. This usually results in an oob within an hour or 2 if I'm lucky. Good luck!!
PRACTICE, PATIENCE AND PERSEVERANCE are the keys to success!
You need all 3 working together like a well oiled machine.

That is very good advice. Lately I have not made the effort so I do not get any result. I also like to add you have to concentrate not to fall asleep and not get in a position that is too comfortable otherwise it is easy to fall asleep.
If you keep falling asleep while listening to the beats, I would advise not to listen to anything. When I listen to something I usually fall asleep as well. People on the forum say to use intent when you want to go to a place. It is the same as trying to stay awake. You have to use intent to stay awake.
You say you get vibrations but it may not be real vibrations. When you are not sure that it is vibrations, treat it like it is real vibrations. Imagine that you are surfing, jogging, swimming or whatever you like doing and do that activity. It could be a musical instrument or driving a car. It may or may not work. It will not do any harm. If it does not work, keep trying. Do what Lionheart suggested, practice, patience and perseverance.

I know you are making progress because you said you get a fast heartbeat, Just to be clear, It is not your actually heart that is doing it, It is your heart chakra, It is basically what's put the energy out there. I would say you're doing well.
