I haven't astral travelled since an accident. Can I get it back?

Hi all,

I am new here and would greatly love some advice.
I used to have OBE's when I was a bit younger and they used to scare me.. I was concious but couldn't move and it felt like i couldn't breathe, like the blankets were hundreds of kilo's. I found out what was happening and worked a little to understand it. until i could concentrate before sleeping and take myself on a journey. I always had this feeling like another being would try and inhabit my body while 'I" was gone...(is this possible?) and at times had trouble getting back in.
Anyway I had a car accident which did put a small hole in my skull. I suffered no apparant brain damage, but have always felt like I lost something that night. I had extreme headaches for about a month. After I had fully recovered I tried again to concentrate as before but couldn't manage to. I used to start by visualising shapes , usually an horizon and my travel would slowly come to be.
My dreams also used to tell me things and I would wake up and just know something, eg. I knew my ex was cheating on me and it wasn't until one particular dream that I even thought it.

Is there something I can do/try to regain what I used to have?
I would love to delve deeper into this part of life.

About whether it's possible for others to enter your body, the answer is no ; you are about as safe when out of body as you are when awake... Usually a negative entity will only be able to attach itself to your consciousness rather than replace it, the symptoms of a "possession" are limited to sudden mood swings or bursts of schizophrenia... You won't ever be stuck out of body while someone else is walking around using it. The astral is not risk free, but problems are extremely rare.

As for the accident... I'm not sure... There's just not that much hard data on what makes it possible for a person to project their consciousness. If it were up to me, I'd say anyone who can fall asleep can have an OBE...

One thing to consider is the emotional impact the accident had on you... For example, knowing that you had precognitive dreams prior, maybe you were "turned off" by the fact that you were not warned in your dreams that the accident would occur?

Also, how bad were the effects of the accident on your life? Did it create a lot of long-lasting stress? Does it constantly preoccupy you? Has your overall character changed a lot? One important part of projection is calming the mind, detaching yourself from all physical worries and problems, and focusing within. In periods of high stress, it's not uncommon even for experienced projectors to have a lot of trouble leaving the body. Good advice would be: Fix up your physical life before you think about your non-physical one ; you have all eternity to worry about the latter, after all!

Question: where is the hole in your skull located? There's still no definite consensus on what exactly enables us to project, as I said before, but two things could have resulted from the injury: First, maybe you did get brain damage creating some kind of hormone imbalance... Second, it could be energy related. Supposedly, injuries can create energy blockages which need to be worked on... For this, check out Robert Bruce's New Energy Ways tutorial: http://www.astraldynamics.com/tutorials/?BoardID=95 ; you can use the techniques to "repair" yourself.

And don't give up -- don't get discouraged if you don't get results... It could take 3 days to get the experiences back, or it could take years... You will be rewarded by your patience!

Hi kiwibonga,

Thanks for your reply. You are correct the accident did change my outlook on life. It let me know how easy it would be to have lost it for the sake of being very stupid and drunk and getting in a car with a drunk driver. I really made a concious decision to better myself after the event, and I feel I have suceeded in doing so. I have turned my life around and am now running my own fairly successful small business. I'm engaged to my soulmate, and am generally very happy and healthy.

The damage to my skull was only small, it was from the switch on the light in the centre of the roof. I only noticed it months after my headaches had gone when my sunglasses started making my head uncomfortable in one spot. I felt it  and found a small hollow right where the nose pads sat. I put my sunnies on my head when not wearing them so you could sorta guess where it would be.

Hello,

I'm pretty sure you can start going out of body again, if you just practice. Practice as often as you can, ever day. What makes you project instead of falling asleep is concentration. So work on that. Maybe the accident did something to your ability to concentrate?

Best of luck!
