Everytime i end up laying down to consciously project, i notice almost ALWAYS little muscle twitches all through out my body. Theres even the occasional jerk all over my body but that only happens like once every 30 minutes of seriously laying down trying to project.

I just wonder and hope, many of you experience the same because it is VERY annoying trying to ignore these things. It also makes me think something could be wrong with me.

Thoughts please  :-)

It happens.

You might try relaxing more or even taking an herbal supplement like Valerian Root or Kava (they can act as muscle relaxers).
be awesome.

This could be caused by anxiety.

Ya that's what I was thinking, but it's almost constant unless I'm doing something or just not thinking about it. I don't have the best diet and when I sleep it's usually for like 9 hours so it can't be bad sleep can it?

It really makes it hard to try and project, I guess it's going to be something I gotta get through but if it is anxiety how do I fix it?

In the early stages of meditation I drain all nerve-generated energy from my body. I first try to release all tension in my muscles, stretching them beforehand. I then identify areas of my body that may be twitching due to leftover nervous energy. I place all my focus on each area. I pretend this focus is like a 'stun gun' and move on only until the nervous energy has dissipated. This energy is then replaced by that numb, tingly feeling. Give this a try, and don't forget to breath deep as oxygen assists muscle relaxation.

Thanks astral I'm def going to give that a try.

But if it is due to anxiety or bad diet, how do I fix this? I'm sure I can still project it's just really annoying to have this happen. Even in waking life it's annoying, so everyone thanks and please give any reccomendations

It's probably caused by everything, which is turn is caused by everything else and so on.  I doubt that there is an identifiable initial condition.  It probably happens to you all the time and you just don't notice it normally.  I know that it happens to me a lot but I didn't notice it until I started trying to project.  After that I noticed it during normal waking hours sometimes, because I was paying attention.  But, over time, the more I practiced, the less of a problem it became.  Now I can pretty much ignore it.  Quite honestly, it's good practice to teach you to ignore distracting stimuli.  Like Robert Bruce says, you should get in the habit of practicing projection in the presence of disruptive stimuli in order to strengthen your concentration ability.
be awesome.

I noticed this happening to me sometimes, it's very distracting.

I have found that if I do some light exercise and stretching beforehand, it doesn't occur. A few yoga sun salutations stretch all the muscle groups so that's what I do for a few minutes before lying down to meditate.

If you decide to try this please let me know if it helps, I'd be curious to find out. I don't have a theory for why this works, I think it's more of a biological reason than a mental one, though.

Hey Nickis,

Totally natural! The muscle twitches are not something worry about.
