Title: BWGen dangerous?
Post by: beavis on August 06, 2003, 13:21:44
How is it artificial if you listen to a sound that makes you think the right way?

If you want melatonin, it is sold cheap in drug stores.

In my experience, presets, that came with it and otherwise, would effect my sleeping dramatically.  I used it for a night and found that I couldn't sleep as well the next without it.  Almost like a drug.  It didn't seem a very healthy way of acchieving different states at all.

I've been playing with the BW generator and find it quite useful for quickly relaxing and I've not had any problems with sleeping after or without it;s use. So it may be just a personal thing.

Also I'm curious what do you mean by "dangerous" FF13 ? Other than epileptic seisures (which is why epileptics shouldn't use it) I can't imagine a simple sound doing anything horrible ... unless of course you are a fan of that movie Mars Attacks [:D]

I didn't say it was dangerous, some idiot did. It was exactly the same, on everything with the words 'third eye.' It got annoying.

Melatonin is secreted by the pineal all the time. It's what makes you drowsy, it doesn't open the third eye. There is a endogenous chemical called DMT that's theorized to also be released by the pineal gland, that might open the third eye.[?] In large quantity DMT induces very short, very intense "visions". Rick Strassman goes into detail about it in his book DMT "The Spirit Molecule".

Never heard of people having seisures while playing video games and what not...

also that south park where they were tring to find a sound that makes people poop themselves... I find that believeable... anyway thats my 2 cents...

nothing against the person who wrote this...

If I want to cure a headache or rouse myself from a drowsy state or something, I absolutely swear by BWG.  It's a fantastic program!

This is the only warning I see:

Qoute from BWgen.com:
"WARNING!
The following people should not use brain entrainment products like BrainWave Generator:
People subject to any forms of seizures or epilepsy
People using pacemakers
People suffering from cardiac arrhythmia or other heart disorders
People taking stimulants, psychoactive drugs, or tranquilizers
If you fall in any of these categories, do not download or even try BrainWave Generator!

I have had only one problem with the BWGEN but I have no hard proof that it was a result of using the program.  But anyhow.  I noticed that often when using the program I would wake up 2 hours after I started the program which seemed to nock me out with in 5 minutes.  At first this was not a problem.  I started trying to make some adjustments to the presets when I encountered the problem.  After having tweaked one of them a little I used it a few times.  Each time I fell asleep shortly after starting it and woke up 2 hours later.  It became habit that I would then turn off the computer and go to bed.  However after changing the preset I found that it was more difficult to go back to sleep after I woke up and turned off the computer.  It was then that even on the days I was not using it I would go to bed and wake up 2 hours later, sit there for a few minutes and go back to sleep.  This turned into me sleeping for only 2 hours and not being able to go back to sleep.  That's when I stopped using the program.  It took about a month for the 2 hour sleep cycle to go away.

On the message board in bwgen, one person says that artificially opening the third eye could be bad. But to project, or just go to sleep, the pineal gland has to secrete melatonin which opens the third eye. So if you astrally project with bwgen or any other kind of brainwave entrainment isn't that opening the third eye? So if opening it is dangerous, all of bwgen is too. I think. That's my hypothesis. Comments?
