First of all, Hello I am new here.  :)

I recently got interested in astral projection and have attempted to a lot over the last few months, but I  get the same problem over and over again.  Whenever i get close to a projection state Ii get very short of breath and it throws off my concentration.  Is there anything i can do?

I'd suggest practicing slow, deep breathing. Often when we're trying to concentrate, we hold our breath, resulting in gasping for air eventually. I'm pretty guilty of that myself. Yoga advocates a lot of breathing techniques, might want to try them.

So forcefully breathe... and then learn to relax and keep it maintained so you're not uptight or anxious while doing it. Anxiety is a big problem.

Yeah I have the same problem as well.  Following the advice of a friend I've been practicing deep breathing meditations to get myself used to breathing deeply throughout the normal day instead of the short, shallow breaths we are normally used to taking.

So far it seems to be helping my breathing problems during Astral Projection practice, so you might want to start getting into the habit of it. Just a thought though.

If I were to give in, would you think me weak?

The funny thing is that i have practiced Chi GUng for years and belly breathing is a technique you learn first to stumulate chi etc.. I am thingking i may have sleap apnea and not evenb know it when my body does fall asleep i will frequently stop breathing if i dont focus on it.. then start breathing again.. Its only a pause fer a few seconds or so but its like i start choking when that pause happens. I have had a fetish ever since i was a Weee kid I MUST have blowing air on my face when i sleep or i feel like i can not breathe... Now i have no paranoia that i know of of chokeing directly but in order to fall asleep i must have it blowing..
