I have been trying to AP for a few weeks and although I have not had too much success, I have had some.  At first I began with phasing.  I only tried it for a few days because I thought that robert bruce's method would be easier.  I actually did partially phase almost every time.  My mind subconciously created a scenery and I became part of that scenery.  This only lasted a few seconds though.  I also had a obe when I woke up at 5:00, stayed awake for 20 minutes, and went back to sleep.  I suddenly relized I was asleep, rolled out, and was out.  This did not last.  It took on an "alice in wonderland effect."  Anyways, lately Ive been trying to open my chakras.  I imagine that as I breath in, energy from my feet goes up my legs, and continues untill it reaches a chakra.  Then, as I breath out, I imagine my hands opening that chakra.  What do you think is the best way to open chakras?

You'll get a different answer depending on who you ask. There are many different views on chakras, their placement, and their function. First off, I don't believe you "open" or "close" chakras. They are always active, it's just a matter of how active. By doing certain meditations you can make your chakras more active. There are meditations similar to what you describe, as well as other meditations that indirectly effect the chakras. You could say that any visualization meditation has an effect on the brow chakra. I've read that learning to write with your opposite writing hand has an effect on the solar plexus chakra (I don't know how true this is).

As far as chakras being related to AP, I'm skeptical. You can ask and read the accounts of many members here who have hundreds of AP's under their belt with no chakra work at all. At the same time, being able to AP may have an indirect effect on their chakras without them knowing it.

But you say you've only been at this for a few weeks. That's not a very long period in which to expect results. Start small and become familiar with subtle feelings before jumping into hardcore chakra meditation. I still think the best, easiest way to become familiar with this stuff is to sit in a comfortable & relaxed position and quiet your thoughts for at least 15 minutes everyday. Get used to a quiet, passively aware mind and things will begin to progress on their own. It takes a while for your mind and body to adjust, so don't expect quick results. It's not a weekend project - it's a lifetime of practice.

Hi Stookie, thanks for your reply.  I do meditate at least 10 minutes every night before I go to bed, without expecting much at all.  I've learned that astral projection is not easy, and that there is not a quick and easy way to master it.  However, I now know my weakness's, and what I still need to strengthen before I can start to astral project.  Currently, I am attempting to increasing my concentation, syncronize my hemispheres, learn/deepen the trance state, and open my chakras (regardless of whether or not they really help).  I feel that concentration is my biggest weakness, and I find its the hardest skill to develop (at least for me).  I don't expect to AP too soon but I am commited enough to where I know I will master it eventually, even if it does take a while.  Also, its actually been at least 2 months, but Ive only really commited myself for about 2 or 3 weeks.

Anyways thanks for your helpfull response.

It sounds like your headed in the right direction. I practiced on and off for years, but it wasn't until I started on a daily routine that I started getting good results. That 10 minutes before you go to bed can really turn into something after a while.

Keep it up!

Thanks Stookie, its nice to know that I am on the right track.  I actually feel like I am making rapid progress.  Last night I thought about what you said, and decided to just meditate as deep as I could.  I got into a light trance very easily, even though my family members were being pretty loud.  I didn't run into any of the problems I had before, and I was able to focus really well.  It was actually the best meditation I've ever done.  I think I'm just going to continue this for a while untill I gain more experience with meditation.

Thanks again
