What kind of sleep pattern do you find results in more OBEs?

Seth suggested sleeping only 4 hours a night, and a nap later. Not specifically for OBEs, but for reducing the sense of separation between the waking and sleeping state.

I tried doing 4-5 hours for a while, and not surprisingly as I felt a little sleepy I was able to shift away quickly, if only fleetingly. But it was kind of hard to keep up the dedication to feeling sleepy all the time, especially in the morning when I would hop on the computer and get to work. I'm going to work on 4 again and see if I can will myself to get up. Otherwise I keep sleeping for a total of 6-7 hours at the most, fitfully, but still with a more "refreshed" feeling... But my understanding is that solid refreshed feeling isn't really a good thing if my goal is to interact with the non physical more.

If you are tired during the week I would not practice.   It is not good going to work and being tired.   Practicing in the weekends might be better if you do not have to work.

I don't find in my personal observations that a "Sleep Pattern" or certain Sleep schedule really matters. I know that some people have reported OBEs, (like myself) after a day of heavy exertion though. I have also had some pretty vivid LDs after pulling a "all nighter". There was no drinking involved in that though. It was purely a experiment to see if a projection could be enhanced from a completely exhausted state, just as I had after a day of physical exertion when I was much younger. It did produce a faster timetable for a projection. Though my method of shifting was during a LD. I also experienced some pretty vivid and lengthy False Awakenings by using the "all nighter" induction. One of them had me actually thinking that I was physically awake for an entire day before things began to "trigger" me to the fact that I was still Dreaming. It was quite "surreal".

There is also a "pre sleep induction" method that it is written about here by a former member named Bedeekin. You can find that info in this link here: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_astral_consciousness/fantastic_obe_technique_bedeekins_method-t31819.0.html
