I just saw something on the Internet that reminded me that OBE's in the future will be available to everyone through electronic means.  Take a look at:

http://www.innerworlds.50megs.com/winshakti/rotating/index.htm

Now, I am not saying this device necessarily works, only that in the future devices like this will make projection as easy as riding a bike.  Instant OBE for as little as $225.  Hell, id buy a device like that.

When this happens, science will really look into this phenomenon (either that or the FDA will ban the machine, creating a black market).  At first science will be clumsy and attribute it to electrical charges, but a short time later the wider reality will be discovered by the mainstream and Mystical notions will go bye bye .

I can just hear the wails of agony coming from the evangelicals lobbying the government to ban the device,  "That's the DEVIL's machine!"

Still it is always Best to know how to do it "manually"

yea..too bad the devil is us.  If only those damn evangelicals could understand that.  I use the manual way, because like my gf's dad always says, "you cant smoke dope and use power tools."

Dr. Persinger invented this device. Persinger comes across as someone avidly trying to disprove everything a skeptic could ever wish for under just one umbrella. I've seen a documentary with him trying to disprove alien abductions using a similar device (he uses it to try to disprove ghosts, aliens, any religious experience, etc.). His student was the subject ... I've never seen anyone more obviously lie through his teeth then when that student told the camera he saw a gray induced by the machine.

While the device sounds convenient, I've never found many reports from people who have bought it of it doing anything interesting.

Save your money on that one. I think it's far more likely the technology will come from something else (for instance, Sony's patent for technology that beams sensory information directly into your brain - though, keep in mind, right now it's just a patent for a pipe-dream that's not even run any experiments).

Who knows, maybe someday an anime will flash at just the right frequency to induce OBEs instead of seizures ...

I don't know about that technology there, but I can envision it. I saw this on the website & couldn't help but laugh:

QuoteThe power of moving magnetic signals is illustrated in one study where 3 volunteers were given LSD and were given sessions with the Koren Helmet. When the coils were moving, the subjects saw "blobs of white, purplish, or greenish-yellow lights ".

I can hear the salesman now: "Oh yeah, it works great. Just be sure and drop some acid before putting it on."

However, a working technology would be great. But like Hans said, the politics of it would be crazy. It's kind of like that movie "Strange Days" where you could use a device to re-live other people's recorded experiences. It was made illegal and there was an underground black-market for the devices.

Ap Friends,

I can see it now, with this equipment going bad. like 500 electric volts wrapped around your head.  - seems like a easy method to induce a NDE then OBE...:)

I would imagine in the future that technology will definitely be advanced to where OBE will be able to be induced by the flip of a switch or even a memory download like in the movie total recall. When you come to think about it, 20yrs ago what did we really have to assist us with astral projection? Books, tapes, hemisync and that's really about it. The computer industry took off in the early 90's and look what we have now. I don't think this is too far off that something will be in front of us in our time.
