As you see, I am new here. I discovered lucid dreaming some time ago and haven't exactly been 100% successful with that. Later on I found out about astral projection. I'm going to skip the rest of the story.

I have tried to project once, and only once. I think I almost did it, but I'm unsure.

There I was, laying in bed supposed to be asleep. I started to focus on my breathing. I totally blocked everything else out. As that went on, I started to feel vibrations of sorts in my legs and torso. Soon enough, my entire body was vibrating (if that's what you would call it). Later on I felt this wonderful sensation in my skull, like nothing I had ever felt before. The only thing I can really relate it to would be an orgasm in my brain. I felt like I was moving, and then I started to hear random bells jingling, much like sleigh bells. There aren't any of those around my house so it couldn't have really been a bell. I don't really recall what happened after that.

Can anyone tell me what this was?

Sounds like a fun time.

So... all you did was focus on breathing? The sensations you felt were probably energy moving into your primary energy centers (chakras). If you practice you can learn to control the 'vibrations' which is actually energy and you can even learn to store it in your body and use it for later.

I can tell you I experience the same, and similar, related vibratory sensations as well -day and night..

Definitely sounds like the start of a projection.

The reason you can't recall what happened after that is most likely because you clicked out... aka, fell asleep.  :)
If you had managed to keep conscious (which is hard to do when you're lying down with the main goal to fall asleep), you would have come to the point where an exit technique would have been good to try.  :)
