Hi all, does anyone try to ap during the day?  Some people have a nap then they ap.  I am not able to sleep during the day.  I used to be able to but not any more.  If you do ap, do you relax yourself first and does it make a big difference to you?  I am not able to ap during the day.  I suppose I could if I was prepared to spend hours waiting.  I do not want to wait that long.  I do not relax myself when I practice during the day.

Hi,
It can be done.
In the 80's I had a job very close to home with 1 hour lunch breaks. I'd drive home and have 54 mins to get back to work. In this time I'd AP nearly every day and get back to work on time.
I'd be out in minuits from getting comfy. An alarm occasionally came in handy when those slower days occured. Its dropping the physical that you need to learn to do. Once you get the feel of it and remember it, it gets easier to do.
The mind awake part is easy its the body asleep that takes a little time to remember the sequence. As we are all different in our approach of this, its a personal experiment.
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

That was wonderful for you.  Thanks for that.  You have given me hope that it can be done.  That is what I will do, I will forget the physical.

I've been reading a bit on the train into and from work the last week or so.
The trip is generally 35 - 40 minutes... I've found that if I read for 20-ish minutes, then meditate, I have a much easier time meditating.

It's almost like the reading is a pre-relaxation step which primes my consciousness much better for meditation.  I've had some very interesting experiences from this.

Thanks Xanth, I will do that.  I will read for a while first and then I will meditate.

I would say anything to focus your mind is excellent pre-meditation practice.

Reading is a technology don't forget.  :-D

Reading per-removable type was little different, and that was only about 500 year ago. Even at the beginning of this century or last, illiteracy was a severe issue to tackle.

Back then the would have to stare at a candle or something.

Cheers,
