While I was trying to project last night, in the earlier stages i could see an image in front of my eyes but it seemed to be flashing.... it gave me the feeling that my eyes were opening and shutting just the smallest bit. It took me a fair while to get past this, but in the past i originally just thought it was my eyes doing this... Has anyone else had this happen to them? The only way that i reassured myself lastnight that it wasnt my eyes opening was that my room was pitch black and the image (which turned out to be my room looking from my bed) had light to it. Does this sound like I was nearly projecting? ie. my astral body poking its head out and having a little look around maybe?

EDIT: Also another thing I was thinking about, - If your mind is at its say "purest" form while in the astral plane.... would writing (thinking) lyrics in the astral be alot easier/productive or even possible? Would you be able to remember these lyrics when you are pulled back to the physical?

It sounds like you were gaining astral vision, yes, that's the start of a projection.

Regarding the writing, it can be very confusing to write and read things in the astral. Sometimes when I'm having a very good experience I feel like writing it down so that I wont forget it, but I may happen to start writing before I even return from it. My thinking goes like: I'm gonna write it on this piece of paper and copy to my computer when I wake up. How am I suppose to do that I don't know yet.

The eye twitching is usually linked to losing your focus. As your eyes try to "get a grip" of something in the darkness of your eyelids, if you stare too hard you will get a reflex to open your eyes.

The best "cure" for this is to fool your body into thinking that you're falling asleep - make sure you get in a position that'll allow you to fall asleep, and drift away from your physical senses (stop staring in the dark, make the darkness disappear).

I know when I try to sleep on my back, this happens a lot, so I just roll over to the side in a fetal position and it stops.

Ok cool, thanks for the reply... next time Ill try and project whilst on my side. Hopefully next time Ill be able to project! :D

Wow that's the same with me, I noticed that my eyes stopped opening slightly when I was laid on my side. Then again, I naturally sleep on my side so it could be from that

Yeah, eyes opening can be tricky. You think you're opening your eyes. It's happened to me many times. Every time it turned out I was out-of-body and thinking I needed to relax deeper. If you're in a state like this, just open your eyes, sit up, or look at something to do a reality check.

One time, I thought I had failed, was so frustrated that my "eyes" were opening spontaneously, I sat up to get out of bed - but it was like the air had to turned to thick jellow and I had to work hard just to sit up.

I think it's impressive that you'll be thinking your eyes are opening, when in fact, you don't even need eyes and you're seeing somehow everything exactly (or close to) it looks in real life. Very cool.
