Those of you that are projecting, I have no idea how you're doing it unless it's happening fairly quickly. Over the last week, I've laid completely still for an hour and an hour and a half. Neither time did I reach complete numbness, so something's off.

There's an insane itching that occurs mostly on the face and I've heard this referred to as cobwebs, energy blockage. In the past, I would give up and scratch because it was unbearable, but as of late, it's almost been a teeth grinding experience to endure, but I do it in the hopes of clearing the blockage. Rarely does it occur anywhere outside of the face. To those who project frequently, do you no longer get this sensation?

The ringing sound that's heard during attempts I hear almost 24/7 except it's in the background and I have to have a quiet my mind to notice. Getting it to go faster and increase in frequency I've only had minor success with towards the end of the attempts.

Another issue is saliva. I would think it's safe to assume you have to keep your mouth and tongue still in order for them to reach numbness, but that's damn near impossible when your mouth fills up with saliva. With one of those recent attempts, I held a mouth full of spit for an hour and a half which was another nuisance. For the other, I tried to project from laying on my side with my mouth open lol. Needless to say, I drooled quite bad. Any advice on this?

In the past I've had some odd experiences, near exits it seems. Two I recall well. In one instance, I had closed eye sight and was staring out the back of my head whilst laying in a recliner. That lasted for about 5 seconds before fading back to black. In the other, I heard what sounded like a train passing right by me when there's no railroad within 10 miles of where I was. With my most recent experience from laying on the side, something new happened as well.

I was doing my best to visualize and disassociate with my body. However, that changed to something intuitive that I didn't consciously generate (daydream about). There was an image of the moon in the night's sky with what looked like blue electricity coming off of it (think Tesla Coil). When it appeared I focused on it with all of my intent and then comes this loud hiss as if it were right on top of me. It didn't sound like a cat hiss, but more of a reptilian nature. It caught me off guard and from that point forward it seemed like continuing was futile, but that was nothing more than a feeling.

Any advice or help anyone could give to achieve projection would be much appreciated. I used to get vibrations, but not any longer and I'm suspecting that's due to my body not going numb. With the "thoughts generate magnetism holding you to your body" theory, my mind's pretty blank. My desires and stresses are almost nil, and it's felt like I've been meditating with my eyes open for nearly a year now. Also, I've tried both early in the day and at night attempts, and in my experience, the ones at night seem to progress further.

My main reason for wishing to project is to check on someone who I suspect is my twin soul. I read a story of there being some kind of colored cord (orange I think) attachment between twin souls like the silver cord that holds your astral self to the physical. Besides that, I'm curious to see if the energy or awareness changes in her presence. We're not on good terms after me trying to express some strange unconditional feeling too quickly, but that feeling never went away and she's honestly made it easy for me to care about someone else more than myself. Once that's done I'm sure there's plenty to explore :P

There's your problem right there. Do you expect to learn to play a piano or guitar in one week. You need to practice, practice, practice and then practice some more. This is not a "quick fix" thing, this is a life adventure. You have to put time, intent and focused will into this. You will see results, albeit small ones at first, we call those "sign posts", but once you recognize these and get past these then you will be rewarded for all you hard work. This is the first test of will. How far are you willing to go, how much committment are you willing to give? Only you can answer those questions. Once you have, you will find a number of helpful threads here to show you the way.
Good Luck and Safe Travels!  :-)

Well, literally... you can lie there forever, but if you don't actively do "something" to keep your mind active while you relax your body... then you'll be lying there forever experiencing exactly what you experienced:  Nothing.

There's more to it than just "lying there completely still for an hour and a half.  :)

Don't fight them.  There's never any sense in fighting your own body.  Your body will ALWAYS win in the end.
If you get an itch, slowly and calmly scratch it.  Approach your practice as you approach falling asleep at night... when something bugs you while falling asleep, take care of it calmly and slowly and go back to falling asleep.

QuoteThe ringing sound that's heard during attempts I hear almost 24/7 except it's in the background and I have to have a quiet my mind to notice. Getting it to go faster and increase in frequency I've only had minor success with towards the end of the attempts.
Listening to the ringing is a way to keep your mind active while you relax your body.  This is a good technique that seems to work for some people.  Give it a good month's try though before moving onto something else.  Patience is paramount here.

Stop drinking Soda.  Soda causes you to salivate more than water or other drinks.  Try drinking just water and see how that works.
In the end though, approach is like I mentioned above... if you need to swallow, just do it.  Don't fight it.  You won't win.

The sight thing is normal.  It means you're shifting your awareness.  Now you just need to learn to hold it longer.
The sounds are also normal.  They're hypnogogic sounds.  You'll experience a wide range of them as you progress.  :)

Nothing is ever "nothing more than a feeling" with this.  If you had kept going instead of stopping, who knows what might have happened.

You're doing fine.  Your problem seems to be one of patience.
Relax... stay calm... keep your mind active with something... allow yourself to shift.  That's the jist of it really.

I've never heard of the term.  Nor have I ever heard or seen any cord at any point during my projections.

Thanks for the help. I kind of figured practicing more of the same was going to be what I was told. The soda thing I already looked up, but water just isn't doing it for me. Seems to make my mouth and throat too dry, but it's worth a try I suppose. Need to find something other than soda to drink regardless.

I'll be back to complain some more after another 30 or so hour + experiences  :-o

EDIT: The "feeling", better yet intuition, came along with noticing that the ringing had dulled if not stopped completely. The hissing sound startled me too much and I did keep going for another 15 minutes, but it never progressed.

I used to have many hour long practice sessions, but they are wasting time and energy. Plus they lead you to feeling drained and groggy. Even if you do have an OBE after one of these long sessions, your soul contains little awareness and energy, and you move around like a drunk in the real time zone.

My OBE's now occur anywhere from a 5 second practice session to a few minutes. If I don't get an OBE in that time frame, then I stop the practice session and continue next time.

What I have been doing lately is making sure I am really tired. I then lay in bed or a recliner and mentally push my head upward. While doing this I listen to a fan or heater sound. Usually shortly after, I can't hear the fan sound anymore. Whenever you can't hear the fan sound anymore, you are out of your body either in a lucid dream, void, or in the real time zone depending on how well you can limit your visualizations. The more you can limit them, the closer you will be to the void and also to the real time zone. Visualizations and random thoughts will lead you down the path to a lucid dream.

It may take many practice sessions to gain sight in the OBE after you can't hear the fan sound.

Once you re-enter your body, you will feel a jolt, and then you will be able to hear the fan sound again. The jolt is the key to knowing you were out of body.

You can practice this technique at any time during the day or night.

You must be very tired for it to work. You need to be extremely tired where you can fall asleep in seconds for this technique to be consistently successful.

Well, honestly... you should only drink either water or milk.
Anything else is really poison for your body.

And soda will actually dehydrate you... it's loaded with SALT which makes you urinate free water and it's also loaded with caffeine which makes you more thirsty.  The vast amount of sugar in your soda (upwards of 12 teaspoons!) is there only to sweeten and cover the taste of the salt.

Soda is only one thing: A money pit for those who make and sell it.  It does nothing but destroy your body.
And the "too dry" thing I know all too well.  Trust me, it goes away when you stop drinking soda.  Soda only makes me more thirsty now... I pretty much only drink water and coffee.  ROFL  ... ok the coffee isn't the best... >.>  :D

Sorry... /end rant on the evils of sugar.  :)

Appreciate the response Todd but that technique is unlikely to work for me. I have insomnia and it takes a while for me to fall asleep.

Xantha:

I read some of your blog, especially the part about visualization that lead me to astral dynamics. I've read in the past but it was good to brush up, the tactile imaging bit. Also downloaded your ebook on phasing which I'm about half way through, but I'm going to give the "be aware of images and movements in the blackness" method a go next time rather than trying to visualize. For some reason, I find it incredibly difficult to daydream with my eyes closed but it's simple with them open, go figure.

I don't know where you're from, but American milk is also poison. It's banned in Canada and a few other places. It contains bovine growth hormone and RGF1. Assuming that those growth hormones weren't in there, it still wouldn't be particularly healthy. Pasteurization kills off a lot of the vitamins and nutrients and the calcium itself is damaged so that it's not absorbed as easily by the body.

Don't disagree with you about soda at all though. I was drinking diet soda up until about 5 months ago and the aspartame in that was causing brain damage. If you've ever stood up and lost sight and hearing followed be a dizzy spell, that would be the culprit responsible. That experience was occurring for me about twice a week and had been for a solid year. I haven't experienced it once since I stopped, but I started drinking regular soda and put on weight because of it. It'd be nice to find a good water source but that's unlikely as well.

A lot of bottled waters contain very small doses of antidepressants and the tap water I have leaves hard water stains on pots and pans so whatever is in that stain I'm drinking... Yay for conspiracy I suppose man haha.

Oh yeah, one other thing I noticed. That moon experience I had and mentioned in the OP was subconscious imagery so that's a new milestone at least. Hell, I may have even projected because I lost my body completely in those 5 seconds and with the hiss I was brought right back. Damn reptilians :o

Jwest06

Also worth mentioning, apparently I got some bad advice. I don't know where I read I was supposed to be completely numb, but the 80% numb as you put it I've been achieving consistently.

The energy work / tactile imaging where you "massage" your body with awareness speeds up the numbing process dramatically. If I go that route, it only takes about 10 minutes which is the time involved going all over the body from top to bottom.

Boom

Hi, I've had the same problems as the OP. Just laying there trying to get a session to workand it just doesnt.  I have had conscious astral projections by doing the following:

1. Spend hours reading up on Astral Projection. Read peoples experiences, read techniques, watch youtube videos. Get into it. Get Astral Projection on the brain.
2. Go to bed, sleep as normal. But wake up at 3am.  Get up walk around a bit. Get into that 'I'm awake but its too early set!'.  Read some more astral projection stuff.
3. Go back to bed and lay still thinking of astral projections. Say in your mind over "I will project i will project. I am more than my physical body"
4. Now the tricky bit. (You can try this during an afternoon siesta too). Lay down on your back, and let your mind wander as it would as you go to sleep. But as youre about to fall asleep, you will suddenly realise "ooh astral projection" and your mind will snap back into a focus. But your body will be completely relaxed.
5. Enjoy the ride. for me at this point I have felt the woosh, i have felt the phase, i have felt myself going OBE and wham into an astral projection.

KarmicBeats

All of the advice Xanth gave was good especially about the soda pop.  Stop drinking it entirely go cold turkey and drink tons of water.  Get some bottled water, it is better than soda pop.

Stop trying to project for a while.  Instead do daily breath meditations like the one posted at my blog:
http://karmicbeats.blogspot.com/p/basic-breath-meditation.html

This will help build your spiritual core.

Do a mediation in the morning to a focus study or alert mind / relaxed body video or audio.
Meditate at night before bed with a sleep video or or a binaural beats production in the delta range.
These will help with your insomnia.

The idea is to stop trying to practice projecting and start working on the basics.  Like developing your core and getting your cardiovascular system pumped up before trying to play football.  You need a training season.  Spend some time running through tires and hitting tackle dummies.  Then you can learn and practice some plays.

(those were American football references. My apologies to those Europeans who have no idea what I just said :?)

Karmic Beats provides free binaural, isochronic beats, ASMR, videos for astral projection, lucid dreaming, study & focus, healing and other meditations.

Others have addressed a lot of your points already, so I won't do that.

But I will say that it took me nearly two years of fairly regular practice before I was able to successfully project for the first time.  Granted I would stop for like a month or so, but I always kept at it in the long run.  But the patience paid off.

I've got all the popular books on AP, many of the obscure books and tons of ebooks.  I've been a member of this forum for a long time, I've studied all kinds of metaphysics for years.  And I'll tell you that what I've learned more than anything else, is that you really have to figure out the details for yourself.  You can get the basics from a lot of different sources, there are plenty of techniques on this forum, but when it comes to actually projecting, you just have to do it to learn it.  I know it's paradoxical, but it's a personal experience that can't really be described in words.  So while the great teachers try, they can only teach you so much.  In the end, you have to figure out the more subtle parts that really are the keys to success on your own.  But you can, I promise.  Just keep going.
be awesome.
