Didn't even realize I was in some sort of AP until the end. I tried to seperate from my body, but was already seperated, so I ended up back in because I thought about it. Here's how it went: I was layng in bed talking with my wife. During our conversation, I was trying to get up out of bed, except I couldn't. I had clear vision of her laying there. I was rolling around looking at the room, but I just couldn't get out of bed no matter how hard I tried. In the process of this, I realized my wife and I were communicating telepathically. She was showing me things and telling me something about some people who I do not know. It was like she was showing me a website, except it was on paper. There were some other things she was telling me, except I can't quite remember. I realized as she was telling me these things that she was sleeping. I'm rolling around in bed, trying to get out but can't, and at the same time my sleeping wife and I are having a telepathic conversation. Then it occurred to me that this was an AP. I thought to myself I have to will myself out of bed. I thought of seperating from my body. I didn't realize I was already out. The thought of seperating landed me right back into my real body and so I got out of bed for real and came to write about the experience. Some interesting side notes...when I woke up for real, my wife was laying there exactly as she was inthe AP. Exactly. My bedroom was similiar to what it is for real, but there were some differences, mainly a small wall next to the bed. And I did not experience any buzzing or vibrations at all.
I always thought that when you AP, your waking consciousness is out of your body. This wasn't the case. My subconsciousness was definitely in control. My waking consciousness was supressed. It was like they reversed. All in all, pretty cool!
sounds like it was something in between an LD and AP.
one thing i've learned from practice is that these experiences aren't as cut and dry as LD or AP. I wholly agree with xanth (and therefore frank i guess) that dreams, LD and AP are all happening in the same "place" with varying degrees of awareness. What I think people neglect sometimes is that your degree of awareness exists on a continuum. everything exists on an infinite continuum, especially level of awareness.
