Last night I decided to try APing, I listen to Hemi-Sync because it seems to help. Anyway, I thought I would try and narrow my consciousness and not to think of anything, kind of just let myself go to sleep but keep a thread of awareness, I stayed like that for a while and my heart started beating faster and i got shivers, I started to hear a wissling sound, and found my face was kind of scrunched because I was trying to keep my eyes closed, I decided to try and relax my face, the wissling sound started to disappear now because I wasn't very relaxed anymore, I tried to relax my face and eyelids but found my eyes started moving rapidly (eyelids to) and I had a bit of trouble keeping my eyes closed. I never actually got to the point where i felt vibrations (i dont think) but this is the closest I've ever got. I was quite excited after because of this wissling sound that I've never heard before!
Anyway my problem is, how do I keep my eyes relaxed when all this starts? If I try relax my eyelids my eyes move rapidly and start to open a bit, if i force them closed my eyes dont move but my face is kind of scrunched and unrelaxed.

I'd like to know HOW you keep that thread of awareness.

I've been at this for almost 3 years now and I still have the same problem...I fall asleep before anything happens.  I've tried just about all the suggestions I've gotten and just can't get past this.  I have always fallen asleep very easily when I get still, even sitting; i.e., at church, at the movies, in the dental chair....

Is there anything you can think of that you consciously do to stay aware?  When I try a repetitive mental rundown, I fall alseep way too quickly.

Hmmm how to keep your eyes relaxed?

Well what works for me is to let them defocus, cross and point slightly upward plus I tend to wear an eye mask to keep out any unwanted light, so it doesn't matter if my eyelids open a little.

Sorry...I also meant to comment on your question.  Didn't mean to get off topic.

I've found that if I'm thinking about trying to quiet a body part, it does just the opposite.  That's most true for my eyes and mouth.  I've been able to conquer that by focusing on relaxing into the bed...feeling the support of the bed under me and more or less just falling weightlessly into it and then bringing my attention to a mental area above the eyes which causes you to see with your mind rather than your physical eyes.

That's probably why I fall asleep...maybe I'm way too relaxed.

Thanks for the replies, does anyone else get this, eyes moving rapidly when vibrations start? When they start moving does it matter if the eyelids open a little whilst it's all going on?

Giselle, what i did was just think of nothing, and stay narrowly aware while letting my body go to sleep, I heard once that it's like tricking your subconscious & body that your mind is sleeping by making minimal noise (thinking), and naturally, your supposed to astral project.

don't try it before going to sleep ;)

I'm no expert, but here's my theory:
If you get to a vibrational state over and over and over, eventually your body is going to get used to the sensations where your heart doesn't pound and your mind doesn't go "Oh my God! It's happening!". You will get used to it and eventually get through it.

Giselle - Something that helped me getting relaxed, yet mentally aware were bin-aural beats. I used the brainwave generator for a few months and was very happy with the results. I used a built-in setting (which means FREE) where it would produce a constant sound for a few minutes, and then slowly move to a different beat, and then back again. Every time there was a change like that, my mind would shift towards awareness instead of drifting off.

kooler that's EXACTLY how far i got

its like i wrote that haha

except i heard a kind of cape noise, like there was a cape flapping

i heard probably 3 astral noises

it felt so euphoric, and i had intense closed eye visuals, and when i opened my eyes it was like i was tripping on some drugs (with my visuals)

and no drugs were used..

anyways, anyone have some tips as to what to do at the heart chakra beating moment, just keep concentrating on letting your body sleep??

because my body tensed up, and my face

also, how long , relitivally, should it take to project after the heart starts going
