Higher Self

I'm reading Adrian Cooper's book 'Our Ultimate Reality' and he keeps referring to a "Higher Self". 
Exactly what does that term mean "Higher Self"??!!

Does anyone know??

Thoughts on the nature of higher self
Your higher self is not anywhere outside of you.
It is above you and below you and behind you and before you and inside of you and all around you.
It is....you.
At a higher level of consciousness
You are it, at a lower level of consciousness.
Get into the deepest altered state you can and you begin to align with your higher self.
By this means, you start to merge with that which already is.

There are many similar terms for Higher Self, such as Total Self or Oversoul, or ("Quantum") Monad or whatever.

It is your real "Being", not the ego that is created for themes you play out for learning purposes during a each incarnation. Your incarnation is, like all other, "connected" to your "Being". It is an aspect, or a "role" you play for a span within a certain dimensional reality frame in time-space.

I don't know much about it myself, but I think of my higher self as been my whole self in the astral. In other word when i die, I think I will unite with my higher self. Like when you were put into your physical body a part of your higher consciousness is in there with you, but not all of it. It's still confusing when I think of it like that and I'm probably wrong, but I'm hoping to learn more through projecting. Have you projected yet?

Imagine you're playing an RPG. You can have as many characters as you want. Each character can have lots of different skills, atrributes, access to different areas or whatever. But when you create a new character it has to start from scratch.

Think of the higher self as the actual person playing the game. Even though the character is starting from scratch the higher self already knows most of the game inside out from all the other times its played it. It probably even knows entirely different games.

I rarely play vid games. But let me try this, me right now in this physical world is the "new character".  "Higher self" is the guy somewhere in astral world with all the knowledge and playing the joystick, correct??!  If Higher self already knows all the games inside out, then why the heck is he sending me down here to the physical world??

Because there're still some bits of the game that he's not experienced yet. This wont be the common stuff though that most people get up to in their lives.

You might only have a few things to achieve before you can stop coming back here. If these things are hard to achieve in this day and age then you might end up "wasting" lots of lives doing the same old same old.
