Title: How Did Your OBEs Progress?
Post by: personalreality on February 19, 2010, 12:12:28
I've been talking about it enough, but if you haven't come across me yet, I just recently began having successful OBEs.  Been practicing and training for a long time and finally met results.  But I have a question.

So far my OBEs are always really short, my consciousness is always strong while I'm out though.  But when I come back, as the memory fades my consciousness during the event seems to be foggier and foggier.  In fact, if I didn't remember making a note to myself during the projection that my consciousness felt really strong, I would think it had been a dream afterwards.  I am fully aware of the issue with shadow memories (dream, OBE, or otherwise) and so I've started an OBE journal to make a better habit of remembering clearly.

It's very real during the experience, and begins to fade afterward (which is expected).  My question is how long did it take you experienced projectors before your OBEs became more regular, controlled, and longer?  I can't seem to keep myself out for more than a minute at best.  And when I am out, I always try to leave my apartment by jumping out of a window or through the front door (going through it, not opening it) and when I get outside the environment looks totally different from my actual community and I try to fly away to go do something and then I'm always sucked back to my body.  I've briefly tried to leave the "RTZ" (which I don't necessarily agree that that's where I am, but it's commonly understood around here as that) before by thinking of going to the Astral Planes and by trying to jump into my bathroom mirror (which I failed miserably at, I hit the window and fell down, which I thought was odd).  Nevertheless, I always seem to be stuck in my apartment and the area outside my apartment.

Did this kind of thing happen to others when they started and how long did it take you to get things going?

Dear personalreality,

i think it should be noted that we never begin to have OBEs, we only begin to learn to manage a basic download of memory from the dimensions.

Up til today I haven't improved my recall at all. I had an accidental OBE where i screemed upon reentry, providing full memory of the event. The next close experience was when i talked to some being in another dimension, came back and knew that I had just talked to someone, but i realized then that there was noone in my room and my mom was not in the house, so i resolved that i had just talked to someone in the dimensions.
Perhaps my astral self is so stubborn that all it wants is to have the highest possible experience even if that means that the experience can not be remembered afterwards.

QuoteI hit the window and fell down, which I thought was odd

have you read Peterson's book "OBE's & how to have them and what to expect"? chapter: "The Phantasy Trap" where he says that he often in the OBE state phantasized doing things like you would daydream in the real world but being unaware that it was so while it happened. One of the primary differences between IN-OBE phantasizing and IN-OBE actuality, he says is that during IN-OBE phantasizing, objects usually appear unrealistically solid and he couldn't pass thru them unlike in IN-OBE actuality.

Don't be so sure. I am getting better at 'real time' projections, similar to remote viewing I am able to project my consciousness out of my body and be both aware of my physical body and my energy body at the same time.

Hey personalreality.  :-)

I've only been projecting for a couple months too. On some nights I'm still not able to leave my house or the area surrounding my house.

Have you tried teleporting? I'd suggest distancing yourself from your body first. 9 times out of 10 I don't actually end up where I try to go, I'm a real n00b at it, but wherever I go its more interesting than just being in the house.

That's because it takes a really clear and focused mind to go to where you wanna go.
Otherwise, the slightest thought of something else will take you off course and you find yourself somewhere related more to that stray thought than your initial destination.

This is where more meditation helps.  Practice on holding a single thought against all others.

Some people who meditate have something called "no-mind" where they are truley thoughtless, like literally no thoughts and they can enter that state anytime they wish.
Meditation takes years to practice, but I've heard an experience of this guy on this one blog who was a drug addict, had a lot of voices in his head, very out of order and suddenly one day it all stopped, he said that he wasn't a spiritual guy at all and never does meditation or anything and one day everything changed out of no where. I found that very interesting and I happen to have the link for that. But my main point is, don't lose hope because even this guy in the toughest situation managed to clear all of his thoughts and I am very interested to find out how, we need to do some research because if it takes meditators years to reach no mind then we need to find out how this guy reached it all of the sudden because once we know how we can more easily attain it as well and I also hear that no mind brings you to a "natural state" and you have more power in a way.

That's a term we also use in martial arts... Mu-shin, which means "no-mind".
It's a state of mind where, when you're endangered (or anytime really), you're leaving the actions of your body up to your spirit.
You're allowing your spirit to take over, causing a much faster reaction time than normal.

The first time I read that was on Eckhart Tolle's book "The Power of Now", it's a pretty good book if you want to learn how to get to that state with simple methods, I'd say the hard part is getting used to it all day, every day, I'm still working on that, but I guess with practice it should get better/easier. Right now I'm reading his second book "A New Earth" which is also really good.

You should read "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind"

Thank you! I'll look for it and add it to my list because right now I do have a bunch of new books, lol, I'm reading 2 at the moment which is the one mentioned above and RP's Out of body experiences, so after I finish those I'll continue to that one  :-D

Good idea, I will take a look at it, I think that everyone has the ability to reach a "No-Mind" state at will.

Yea... But who has time to practice these days?  :-D

I for one keep learning and de-learning it and then i re-learn it eventually until the whole cycle restarts

After personalreality mentioned the word "dissociating" I picked up immediatly and could reach the state at will.
But usually once each time I "get it", the lack of thoughts (which are really deliberate blockages) cranks up my vibration and I become like a bright lighthouse and someone who is annoyed by my light will soon arrive and pollute my chakra system causing enormous feelings of discomfort in the stomach areas, for they hope to diminish man's vibration and re-integrate each "insurgent" into the human loosh flock.

Meditation (dissociation) is really a cheat on life for it not only destroys the veil by allowing us to project out of our bodies but also diminishes our emotions which make the essence of the difficulty of life to begin with.

I disagree with that last bit Tiny.  When you learn to properly dissociate you've also learned to not become attached to emotions, but that doesn't mean that you learn less or don't experience them to their fullest.  It just means that you have learned that attachment is a physical thing and the attachment to emotions is in the body not the mind or heat.

Sometimes I wish I could just start all over and clear my mind from all the junk that's been put in it. If everyone mastered disassociate the world would be a lot less violent as they are not attached to their emotions and are living in the present, in the "Now" and nothing in the past can affect them. People who have reached this stage will not fight for something they believe in, but will fight for something instinctual such as life or death survival. But we are far from reaching that state, I heard that only 0.1% of the world or something like that was highly evolved spiritually. I guess that 0.1% can be us, we are on the way to becoming the future.

Dear astralization,

doesn't meditation give you just that?

It is my experience that when done properly, even a 5 minute meditation would cure me from all mental attachments and emotions of the past 3 days.

Meditation does do that, but like you mentioned it lasts very shortly. But then again, it's just a matter of getting your subliminal mind to get used to what your doing. I haven't meditated for a while because I don't have time but I am going to start again. I might start a "Uberman" sleep cycle so I can have more time to meditate. But yes, meditation does help just clear, renew and replenish your mind from all the junk that's been put in it and it is just a matter of consistency. I feel like I need something to guide me and am working on trying to open up to any guide that is available.

astralization,
