They should only be able to affect how your brain(s?) distract you.

As in, how do the drugs affect someone once they're out? I mean, if they're out, aren't they not thinking with their physical mind?
Once you're out, there is still a connection to your physical body. All you have to do is have someone pinch you real hard while you're projecting (or even dreaming for that matter) and watch how fast you come back!
The brain is just like a machine, which translates things from our inner senses into a way our outer senses can relate to.
So in the case of drugs, while you may be having an astral projection while under the influence, it may be extremely hard to control, because there is still that connection with your body (that is tripping out in bed!).
Wow jeff, your just full of metaphores and examples [:D]

i'd just like to say that if it weren't for my lsd experiences i don't think i would have ever gotten into any of this stuff. i have done it maybe five times. the last one was years ago, but it showed me alot and made me go look for a book like astral dynamics.
sure, you may have less control. if you know that, and are ok w/ it though, that is waht you want. there is no better mode of being in control than knowing and accepting that you can never be in control. enjoy the ride.
