Dear folks,

I am pleased to release this brandnew technique to the public. I haven't done a lot of testing prior but so far It works very well for me and in fact I'm pretty confident that it will for you. Perhaps you'd like to do some "beta testing" for me and report back here?

Just recently I discovered how important a state of general detachment is to allow basically for any trance state or state of meditation in the first place.

Sometimes shifting attention from previous activities or simply trying to let the mind go blank actually doesn't work sufficiently. When I looked for a satisfactory technique to instantly close mental attachments, especially for those annoying occasions, when these attachments make meditation sessions almost impossible, I stumbled upon a powerful technique that I'll call the "Reel in" technique.

I hear it a lot - we're supposed to "cut off" our attachments and move into a state of 'now'. Robert Bruce suggests we should take the painful image, focus on it hard and sever it violently with sword and burn it leaving no piece behind.
But to me this equals attempting to destroy a part of oneself. I've come to understand that attachments are not our enemies but actually parts of ourselves but stuck and trapped in a different place or in a different place at a different point in time. There seem to be many reasons why parts of ourselves get stuck, "attached" so easily. It can range from the most pleasant to the most horrible experiences. They can be long-term attachments like someone you have fallen in love with, a severe traumatic experience of the past or short term attachments like being upset about a recent incident at work. There seems to be a natural ability of closing attachments varying from person to person. When one has many attachments, his energetic makeup can be scattered so widely that his physical body will be in a chronic tired and confused state until he closes most of these attachments again.
For a less severe example: You don't want to think about that awesome car you saw in the commercial on TV while you're putting the clean dishes from the dishwasher back into the cupboards. You want to focus on your task of moving the cleaned dishes back to their respective places in the cupboards in the most efficient/least time consuming way so you can move on. You want to come back to thinking about the car at a later time, chosen by you!

I believe these attachments, unwillingly taking influence on our lives are quite literally energetic wires of our subtle energy bodies - extending out into different places where they are stuck - "attached", some of them in different points of time. It can even be the future. The solution, the technique that I will present here, follows below.

Sit down in a posture that is most relaxing to you and settle down until you feel comfortable enough to close your eyes.
Now begin to picture your attachments like wires extending from all your 7 major energy centers (chakras) in an angle, aproximately 120° out into the distance in front of you.
Start systematically with the attachment (wire) on the very left end. Now follow that wire into the distance and see what it holds. A picture might show itself to you. Can you amplifie this picture? Analyze, investigate this picture until you can clearly identifie the nature and location of this attachment. Keep your mind as blank as possible and simply let the picture unfold for you. Once you know what, where and when this attachment is, close this attachment by reeling it in. Do so by visualizing (imagining) yourself pulling on this energetic wire (or the picture) of the attachment. As you do this, feel the image, that is at the end of the wire becoming bigger and bigger until it merges with your body again. You have just rescued a trapped part of yourself by reintegrating it with energetic base! Now take the next wire, adjacent to the right of the attachment you just closed. Repeat the process of identifying and reeling in the attachments until you have closed all attachments that you can see extending out aprox. 140° in front of you. It may take 30 seconds or even 10 minutes. Go systematically from left to right or the other way round, whatever works best for you.
You can also picture the attachments 360° (or even more) around you, if that works better for you. Deviate on this technique as you see fit.

Don't let your imagination spoil it and frustrate you. Simply let go and ask your sub-conscious mind - then wait. Eventually, the attachment will pop-up right before you in your mind's eye, usually in the form of an image, sound, feeling(s) or a combination thereof.

Each attachment that you've reeled in by it's image/sound/feeling will almost instantly 'dissolve' into your body, no longer being able to bother you as it is no longer distant.
It seems that these kind of things only have control over oneself aslong as one denies their existence or does acknowledge but tries to run from them. If however one faces them, they are exposed - ridiculously weak! This applies to so many things in life...like sometimes one can make pain or a sound disappear simply by focusing on it.

I designed this technique in hope of increasing the number of those fine recreational, rejuvenating and controlable meditation sessions.

Could you do me a favor and post a link of where Robert says to do this?

Ok- my understanding of this process is that it is to be done to trace a traumatic memory to it's source (the neg creating it) and to remove/destroy the 'fake' part.  What you destroy is not the neg itself, but the memory that never happened.
That's why you don't do anything to the 'picture' that turns easily and has nothing behind it, treating only the false memory.  Which was never a part of you to begin with.
But then again, the reaction to it is yours, so you do have to work on that.
BTW, I do like your method, I'm a big believer in getting behind and understanding what's behind a negative aspect or event, provided it's yours.

Thanks a lot for sharing this information to us. It sounds really useful and im gonna try it tonight.

Dear folks,

a problem is that mental-attachments often slip from our conscious down into our subconscious where these attachments can make us suffer much harder and longer because in that situation one can not close the attachment so easily since he is no longer consciously aware of the problem, he doesn't knowing what is causing his suffering - what a pitiful state of being that is.
Just imagine the suffering caused by a life-long attachment remaining undisclosed somewhere in the subconscious of the sufferer.

I had to experience this once again today when a terrible vibration permeated my subtle body and it made me feel so helpless. It turned out that it was caused by a fear created a few hours earlier when I forgot to solve it and consequently the problem became an attachment, slipping into my sub-conscious, the worst situation you can get. So I continued suffering and didn't even know why until I decided to apply the root-tracing from this technique. This instantly alleviated my suffering by exposing the attachment which closed it.
Root-tracing is a simple thing yet it can become a complex task when the surface-mind is not clear, please understand - the surface mind always makes things appear more complex than they really are. It's a chatter machine. This is why meditation - calming the surface-mind - is advised before you apply the Reel in technique.
