So how does hypnagogia compare with phasing? Is it different or the same thing? If different - does anyone have techniques to reach the hypnagogic state?

MisterJingo

Its different as-in hypnagogia is generally random sensations brought about by the increasingly close border of sleep. Phasing is actually going 'OBE'.
Hypnagogic state can be used as a focus for phasing - if one can maintain interest in hypnagogic scenes without 'clicking out' or falling into sleep, quite frequently (for me at least) it will lead to an OBE or at the least a paralysis state and vibrations.
THe easiest way to reach the hypnagogic state is purely learn to relax.
If you can relax to a certain point while maintaining awareness you'll experience it.
Meditation is a good tool for this. Within a few minutes of meditating I start to experience hypnagogic phenomenon.

the hypnogaugic images you get while falling asleep are not phasing.

phasing requires you to "look past" those images. then you cant retain your awareness and access all the fun areas of conscisousness while you are fully aware. Its like a game of cat and mouse- you have to let your focus shift while loosening your awareness then something will happen to cause you to "snap back." each time you snap back you will be further and further "away" from the physical. then you can enter the 3d-blackness and either explore F2oC or F3oC.

As you get better and better the transition becomes smoother, until you get to the point where you can lay down and get to F2oC in about 10-15 minutes.

Astral Projection

as far as I understood, F2oC (Frank's model) is area of our desires etc. We phase into F2oC when we sleep, projecting astrally etc...
F3oC (Frank's model too) is transition area (am I right?). People "go" there when they die..

Look specifically at the second post where Frank explains the focus levels (his model).

Best to get it direct from the horse's mouth, so to speak.
