Daydreaming vs. AP

Hello!

Some time ago I read a book about the runes called "Helrunar" by Jan Fries, where AP is also covered. He said that there wasn't any difference between the "classic" AP and self-induced daydreaming or "pathworking".
An example:
I lay down, put my headphones on and turn on some shamanic drum recording (which I have used very often to get into a slight trance). I close my eyes and try to see myself lying on the floor. I imagine, that I get up, leave the room, look for a specific place in my neighborhood, paint a sign on let's say a door, open it, go through a tunnel and *poof* enter the little wonderland in my head:-) The world seems real...

Well, I think it is all just  an illusion, some kind of daydream, that has nothing to do with "real" astral travel, but I'm not sure.

Can anybody tell me, if these "pathworking" techniques have something to do with AP or is it a completely different thing?

The answer to your question, IMO, is "yes". Dreams / daydreams / lucid dreams are all connected very closely with astral travel.

I'm not sure how to expand on this at the moment....perhaps someone else can, or a search through this forum will provide more info.

Suffice to say, that dreams & lucid dreams should not be "negated" as having less value/reality than astral travel.

Since your daydreaming exists in the Astral, I'd say that, yes, they were closely tied.  Astral projection, however, involves your entire astral body separating from your physical and moving about, I'd say that that's the difference.
