I have discovered a new technique. Its really simple, easy and quick but it wouldn't help you develop and learn more about your spiritual body.

I'm in the middle of my annual exams, so I'm having to skip my entire sleep some days. Yesterday, I did not sleep at all, but feeling super tired I decided to retire to bed for an hour at like 5:30 am.

I have tried astral projecting so many times when I was really tired but always drifted off to sleep. But this time, having skipped my entire sleep, I was insanely sleepy.
Of all the times when I tried AP'ing, I got the closest 3 times, and every time it was because I managed to hold onto my consciousness right before my body fell asleep. I never used any technique during these times. It involved simple relaxation and clearing of my mind.

Today, I was determined to not let myself drift away to sleep. So this is what I did:- (I'm sure this technique is a sure fire for everyone if you do exactly what I have done)

1. I stayed awake the entire night and didn't take even a short nap.
2. I retired at 5:30 am.
3. I slept in a comfy position, closed my eyes and began chanting 'mind awake, mind awake...' constantly. This is the HARDEST part. Trust me when I say this, when you are this tired it is VERY hard to stay conscious. Even while chanting the above words you will simultaneously go to sleep. But you should hold on really well and intensify the chanting if you are finding it hard to keep yourself awake. Within just about 10 mins I began feeling different.

After this point, I succumbed to fear and dropped my attempt. If you don't fear anything, you will find yourself rising out of your body.
I will narrate my experience to let you know what had happened.

After chanting for a while, I ended up in deep trance. I was finding it increasingly hard to stay conscious. At this point of time, I began sensing (not seeing) other beings. I heard random noises, some sort of light which flashed for a second, blah blah. But all this wasn't very clear due to the level of tiredness. It all was just hazy and confusing. But now thinking about them, I feel all these were just hallucinations (I'm pretty confident about that). I started sensing exit symptoms but I felt very creeped out I stopped it. I decided to just sleep. Soon I had mini dreams and felt my body rising, but my phones alarm woke me up.

You will definetly be prone to hallucinations if you are attempting this. Its all about your state of mind. You shouldnt fall for these thought forms and should continue on. I will attempt this again today and update this post. If anyone is going to try this, please let Mr know of your experience.

Good luck.
The answer to all questions is earnest self enquiry, "Who am I?"

You may not like my advice.   It is not a good idea to try to ap when you are tired.   If you manage to ap you can easily drift off into a dream as you are too tired.   It is a lot better to get some sleep first then try to ap.

There's a contention to be made when someone says they've found a technique that provides "instant results"... or more to the point to make projection easy and simple.
Suffice to say, no such "technique" exists.

With that said, any technique that relies upon doing something unhealthy to your physical body, such as depriving yourself of sleep is NOT a good thing.  You should never harm yourself in order to project.

Onto the actual, technique you provide.  The sleep deprivation aside, what I'll say is that you found YOUR focus.  Your focus, assuming it works when you're NOT sleep deprived is to say those words with as much Intent as you can.  Without knowing it, you created your own projection technique.

Sadly, the only thing that can be said is that it will work "for you".  It might work for others who share your focus as their best focus.

The hallucinations bit definitely sounds like classic hypnogogia. Pretty much everyone experiences that either every time, or at least frequently. And ditto on the above. Others have found sleep deprivation to help them, but it is not necessary, or the preferred way.

I've actually read that if you don't sleep for long enough you'll begin to have "waking dreams"... where what I've read describes your environment begins to change and what you would normally dream begins to bleed into your waking state.  I wonder how accurate that is.

Yeah the person believes they are not sleeping, but they end up having "microdreams", which last 5-10 seconds at a time. The body figures you have a compelling reason for not sleeping, and so will just take the sleep at any point you sit down, as it can manage.

The waking world blends with the subconscious in ways very much like a projection in that situation.

I don't recommend that. I can have SP anytime I want now. As a student and as a computer addict I love to sleep during day and stay awake during night. After whole summer spending like that, my brain adjusted to sleeping during day and staying awake during night.

I would go to bed at 7-8-9 am in the morning and would wake up at 6-7-8pm (sleeping whole day). Of course, I couldn't be like that forever, I had to switch back day and night. Instead of waking up earlier (around 3pm) I almost always decided to stay awake. Which means, I would wake up in 8pm stay awake whole night till morning (till 8am - that is 12hours of being awake). I would stay awake for a whole day until 5-6pm, adding another 8-9hours of being awake.

After not sleeping for +20 hours, being sleepy the whole day, the moment night falls I'm like new. I could go being awake for another 10 hours. Of course, not crazy or brave enough to do so, I would go to bed around 5-6pm.

Everytime I wake up during night. Would wake up in 1am, 3am, 5am and every single time I do that +20hrs of no sleep I wake up (no exceptions) Doesn't matter how sleepy I am, my mind simply doesn't like sleeping during night. Eventually, sleep paralysis would kick in after waking up at 3am or 5am. Once, I felt really tired, I was awake for 16-17hours and I decided to go to bed at 10pm. I had the worse sleep paralysis of my life and I woke up at midnight. I was satisfied with that 2 hours of sleep and I spent the rest of night playing PC.

I don't recommend doing this at all. Especially if you decide to drink 0,5L of energy drink just to make sure you stay awake. Ohhh, no, don't do that. You start being hyperactive, you can hear your heart beat clearly, you can hear blood in your neck veins. Scary stuff. After writing on this forum about sleep paralysis and actually reading about SP's simptoms I realized I have been doing 95% of them completely unattentionally. Damn, even my lucid dreams are product of doing things unpurposely. Most of people here are calling them methods to get AP or something. Like just lying in bed not moving and staying conscious. I would do that every night because I thought if I don't move I will fall asleep easier and would actually get more than 5hours of sleep before waking up for school. I had policy, if I don't move, my body will be asleep and even if I'm aware of myself I can count that as sleeping and getting rested. I've been doing that my whole life.. (even when I would feel so-called-vibrations, I would force myself not to move just because I didn't have luxury to do so, otherwise I'm stuck with 3hours of sleep (I had to, well still do, have to get up at 5.30, 6am for college)

I've toyed with sleep deprivation after working for 'a long time' in one stretch. The bleed over is very strong and if you're not experienced the results could easily cause serious injury to yourself and others.
You gain NOTHING useful from it. A little tired is OK.
