Aloha!
I have not yet experienced my first OBE...
I've been able to get to the point of relaxation where my mind is awake and aware but my body is asleep....
Wasn't easy for me because thoughts go all over the place lol but I got there...
I'm used to feeling body twitches at this point, usually after a certain body part twitches, then it will go completely numb so I just wait.
Last night was the first time I hadn't fallen asleep waiting for the twitches to stop, and the rushing sounds were getting quieter.
All of a sudden, my physical eyes snapped partially open. I slowly closed them again, but then it's snapped fully open.
It felt like a twitch like when my finger or my leg twitches.
But after 4 or 5 times of my eyes twitching open, I got extremely frustrated and broke my concentration.
I know people have said I sleep with my eyes open on occasion, sometimes even blinking.
Does anyone else have this problem? Or know how to overcome it?
If this is a problem, use a blindfold when you practice AP. You can find a great one here, I use it to rectify the same problem.

Hi i went through twitches for a long period of time i actually would work on just figuring out solutions and not focus on projecting. So here is what i discovered to relinquish MOST of my eye twitching...
Solution one...don't lose fixation while attempting to induce an OBE i normally just let my physical eyes sit in one place and not move the entire time...why ? It allows less tension and also as well as loosing fixation on your physical body this includes the physical eyes they're not needed to see anymore its the minds are you're using :-)
Solution two...relax the face muscles i noticed alot i would accidently be straining slightly while phasing/meditating this caused muscles around my eye's to go crazy like a seizure and slightly open at points i was nearly successful at. At the beginning I noticed slowly lowering my jaw would relieve a lot of strain on the muscles in my face.
sorry if it doesn't help just thought i would share as personally it help me out a bunch :-) good luck...
Looke (:
I also have that kind of involuntary twitching. Thanks for the tips, especially the one about relaxing muscles seems like spot-on for me.
Lookedynamix, your technique is very good. But I don't get the twitching and eyes open scenario until I get to a point where I see a very bright light ahead. I use my "Mindfold" because that white light would always give me a split second thought that I might just be viewing this light through a very small slit in my eyes per say. That bit of doubt is all it would take to completely mess with that Session. :-(
I use progressive relaxation quite a bit and one part of it that is very important is to relax the physical eyes and eye muscles.
I recently had a experience with a new light/sound machine that I purchased where I experienced something akin to a "welder's flash burn". This event has actually been a blessing in disguise. It caused some extreme spasming of my right eye and eye nerve for about 2 weeks, so much that when I closed my eyes, if my physical eyes were still active, I got a shot of pain deep in my right eye. This taught me to use my 3rd eye extensively. During this time I had to relax my temple, my eyes, my eye muscles and nerves, my face muscles, even my nose, lol. It didn't take much to start another spasm. But I saw it through, knowing that there was some good that would come out of it.
You really don't realize how much you are using your physical eyes for noticing until you are kind of "punished" for it. But all in all, it's taught me a new skill! :-)
