Interesting reading, Spectraldragon !

For me, (when attempting concious projection) the problems are always related to getting into the "B-type" trance you mention. Once I'm there though, its simple to get to the "c-type" trance.

A couple of questions, if you don't mind...

How do you personally define "background noise", & is it always present for you in the b-type trance ?

In my experience it starts as hearing things e.g. a bang, a pop, a door closing. Then there is a sudden loud rumbling sound like a locomotive.

kind regards,
Mark

Hmm, that is a good point I need to elaborate on in this article. After explaining it here in this post, I need to edit above article.

Basically, the background noise is the subconscious working in the "background." This can be random thoughts to sounds to feelings. Please note that most of what might be called creativity comes from the subconscious. The subconscious works during waking and sleeping hours and as thus is never quite. By listening to this and diving into it you can go into C type trance. Or, if even after much practice this fails, find the aide of a master hypnotist to aide you, show you so you know the feeling and gist of it, and then the ability to do so yourself will be easier.

As an interesting side note, the last part of this article goes into popping out the back door. during sleep, people tend to naturally start listening to thier subconscious without realizing it. (This happened to me a few times, luckily I might add [;)]) What happens is they start delving into their subconscious so deep and fast that all the etheric makeup most people associate the unconscious with disapears into crystal clarity, and everything is ten times clearer than real life and much more vivid as well. What happened is an accidental projection Via the last part of the guide. [:D]

So, that said, with the problem being you are having trouble getting into B type trance, If you don't mind I think I might be able to help, but I need to know what kind of learner you are. (IOW how you learn best, by doing, seeing, hearing, thinking logically, ect.)

If you are a kenitic learner I would suggest simply trying to hear the background noise and not try to clear the head. What this does is automatically bring you into focusing on accomplishing something and thus clarity is achieved.

If you are a visual learner, IOW you learn by sight and seeing how things are done then I will try to draw some pictures to aide in the learning process. Everyone has thier own way of understanding things and this might help. (I think I might do this anyway now that I think about it, someone is bound to be a visual learner on this forum.)

Audio learners will probably have the easiest time turning off the noise of the consciousness and listening to the subconscious, if I am wrong then between me and the rest of the people on the forum somethin will be figured out.

Hope this helps.

An article I wrote. I got both of these to work for myself, but I really only showed this to a few other people so far. Please keep in mind I might tweek this over time.

Theory (VERY UNNECESARY READING)

Astral projection is a form of spirituality and exploration that is difficult for some people to grasp because of its seemingly complex nature. That is why, after the theory subtitle in this script I call this unnecessary reading. This theory is, in effect, to explain some of what is going on during a projection that occurs with the regime in this guide. In most methods there are pages upon pages of description of what goes on during a projection and many months or even years of preparation involved in trying to have one projection.

The Fear Factor:

It is my belief that for some individuals all the complexity subconsciously or even consciously scares them from making a successful projection. This fear is commonplace in most practitioners but the level of hindrance to the individual varies from person to person. Some individuals who are less afraid of the unknown will find projection to be easier, and most sincere skeptics will find projection nearly impossible because of the doubt that is clouding their minds, thus increasing what is commonly dubbed as the "fear of the unknown" factor. Some individuals are well aware of what this entails, but for those that do a further explanation is provided. It is important to understand how the fear and unknown factors inhibit individuals from projecting to understand how this guide works.

The subconscious parts of the individual control emotions among other things, a point that will be written in more detail later. Fear, while technically not an emotion, is a protection your subconscious uses to keep the conscious from doing that that might harm your being. In the case of astral projection it is factors that are unknown to you and your subconscious that create this fear. Because you are afraid to go into the astral, mental, etheric, or even physical plane through means of projection your, at the subconscious level, do not want to project, even if your curiosity is screaming otherwise. In the cases of individuals who, while wishing consciously to project because their curiosity is causing interest, but unconsciously or even consciously on some level they do not want to face the unknown for fear that they will get hurt, this causes a further problem. When an individual is undecided and unbalanced emotionally they tend to encounter further problems trying to project, one of those problems being the encounter of manifestations of that very fear. These manifestations are often called thought forms, but the term "thought forms," will lead to confusion later, simply because simple thinking processes are not deep enough to create these, so this guide will refer to them as "manifestations."

Manifestations:

Manifestations are created out of the individual's thoughts, feelings, and general inner "demons," brought form by the very nature of the astral and mental planes of existence. They can hinder projection because while they are part of your own being, they do not seem like so when you encounter them. This leads to more problems concerning the unknown factors. The trick to keeping this from happening is to balance yourself emotionally, physically, and in terms of metaphysical energy. Some individuals will find that they won't have any problems with manifestations simply because they are too well balanced for the manifestations to occur, it depends on the individual. These manifestations can occur in any and all projections and locations during a projection. This knowledge becomes important later when a skilled projector/ mystic wishes to create a manifestation of some of their negative qualities so they might banish these from themselves.

The Human Mind/Spirit and Trance States: (Read This)

Many practices believe that knowing a great deal of how the mind is set up in a mystical sense is the key to greater knowledge. A great deal of systems, including various forms of hypnotism, Buddhism, and general mystical practices seem to take the following idea on how the mind is set up and works.

There are, in most beliefs, three layers to the physical mind. If you imagine your mind as a circle, the biggest circle encompassing all the rest is the conscious mind. The second circle, which is inside the first circle, is the subconscious mind. Please note not to let the size of the circles fool you into thinking the subconscious and other parts are smaller than the conscious mind, as this is merely an example to show how the mind is set up and not a relevance to size or importance. The third circle is what some forms of practices call the core of the mind. For the sake of showing how this particular part of the mind relates to this guide it will be referred to as your "gate," as it is in effect a gate to your higher soul. Jumping out of the back of your subconscious will lead you to a gate to what is known by some as the mental plane, and you will effectively shoot straight into what might be thought of as your "mental body," which is almost fluid in it's form.

What happens during sleep is the conscious mind turns off, and you "play" in the subconscious. This makes the first circle almost obsolete. Likewise in what I will call "A Type" trance for the sake of convenience a person turns off most of the conscious mind. In "B type" trance almost all of the conscious mind is turned off and you start hearing "background noise" and in "C type" trance you are exploring the subconscious or, in what might be called "D type trance" you are sitting still in your subconscious.

Practice

The Out of Body Experience:

The out of body experience (OBE for short,) can be a very powerful way of proving to yourself the validity of the projection experience, if you seek such proof. Most individuals, once out of body, will realize that they don't need proof other than the actual experience. You can check up on certain things in an OBE such as where certain things are, though small details such as colors and letters might not correlate well.

To experience the OBE the individual needs to first fall into the Type A trance and then Fall into the Type B trance. When the "background noise" comes up the idea is to use that as a lever to jump past your conscious mind and then to jump completely out of your body. There are several variations on how to do this.

The first variation is to get as in between type B trance and type C trance as possible. This will allow you to jump off the subconscious in a trampoline type manner. As soon as you are in the in between state quickly try to leave behind the background noise and jump (so to speak,) out of your body. You should have no trouble being blocked by your conscious as it is effectively turned off.

The second variation is to jump off the subconscious as soon as you hear the background noise. This is also a trampoline-type effect though easier for some to do than the above.

The third variation is to latch a rope onto something outside of your body while in A or B type trance and then simply climb out using the rope.

Full Projection into the Mental Plane of Existence:

As stated above you can jump out of the back door of your mind and you will pop into what is known to some individuals as the mental plane. The mental plane is where part of your "gate" is located and is your connection to your higher soul. This information becomes important later to some individuals who wish to visit the higher soul.

Projecting out of the back of the mind requires that you go into the deepest forms of trance and find the door itself. This usually requires that you allow the background noise to come to the forefront and start paying more attention to it. What happens is you start traveling to the back of the mind more and more as you listen. Eventually you will come to a halt. It is at this point that manifestations can occur although most individuals won't have to worry about it, as the manifestations will usually be in mixed positive and negative aspects.

Your body should be in a very comfortable position when you attempt this. Do not allow any disturbance as it usually takes time to get into this state of mind and thus disturbance after ten minutes or so becomes annoying. You begin, as always, in the A type trance and then go into B type trance. From here you go into C type trance and start looking for the back way out, when you find it, it's form will vary from looking like a gate to simply a hole in your mind and in some cases you will "accidentally" find it and all of a sudden find yourself in the mental plane, as sometimes happens to individuals who are trying to go to sleep.

Please note that this is still in test form, though I did get both of them to work for myself.
