I can get into that state where my mind is awake, and my body is asleap, but im not sure if i am getting it confuzed to when you have that sleep paralasys dreamish thing where you just cant move.  Once im there, i try projecting but i cant get it.  Am i in the wrong state of mind??

I am guessing that your body is not yet asleep...all you need is partial consciousness...you need to get to the point where your mind feels "fuzzy", like you are just about to start a dream.  Your thoughts will begin fading in & out- just maintain awareness of this, do not think to much.  If you can just maintain this awareness, you will start getting vibrations- and if you have to post on this board the next day and say "were these vibrations?"--then that means you did NOT get vibrations.(Trust me, you will know when you get the vibrations.)  You may also experience a humming noise, but it's a really unique experience for each person.  Wait for the vibration to cover your whole body, and then exit- just like you would normally getting out of bed, with a softer touch.  If you are not getting vibrations, then you are not in the right state- and you will need these vibrations as a "cue" to exit your body.

What I do to phase is look in the blackness and use intent to form a dot of light into a rectangle, then a door. I open the door and find imagery behind it. (I'm not sure why that works but it does.)

In order to clarify the imagery, I use deep breathing to make it vivid enough to phase into.

Then I enlarge the imagery until I ooze into it and have projected.

Here's an illustrated description of the process.
