Mostly because this stuff isn't exactly a cakewalk.

Anyway, other people's successes / failures don't measure into what YOU can / will end up doing.
This isn't a race... you're only in competition with yourself.  And even then that's not important either.

I don't really agree with all of her societal reasons for many people, but the magnetic "pull" of our body I think I've felt.  (Actually, I think I'm getting farther and farther past it every time I SP, but I'm usually occupied during the times I'm able to induce it.)

The societal reasons she lists might not apply to *you*.
But they certainly do apply to a great number of humans existing on this planet right now.   

Remember, just because something doesn't apply to you... doesn't mean it's like that for everyone.
