Title: My "stay awake" topic
Post by: Donal on October 15, 2006, 19:41:04
Hi everyone. I will attempt to stay awake from now (12.30am local time) until Friday night.

I think sleep deprivation can play a big part in projecting, and in reaching the hypnogogic state. Makes it easier I should say. I have been awake for 12 hours now and am really tired, hope this passes by soon. I'll be on my Xbox 360 until it does, hehe.

96 hours of staying awake straight, my previous was 36 hours, please wish me luck people. I will report back here every night on my condition and if I experienced anything astral or OBE.

well it might help you but in this scenario the ends arent worth the means. your body needs sleep and you are only hurting yourself (except for those rare cases with the people who suffer from insomnia and never sleep but do fine)

Well, I stayed awake once for 48 hours and I felt sick, like when you have fever. I was riding in the bus coming home from a long trip and heard the radio but I couldn't understand the language what was a bit strange because the radio program was in my native language. So be prepared for some strange experiences besides OBE's :)

There was a documentary on T.V. a few years ago about a radio disc jockey who performed an experiment on himself by staying awake as long as possible.  I think it was on the Biography channel, but I cannot remember for sure.  Anyway, he managed to stay awake at the radio station for several days - it might have been a week.  During that time his body went through several strange phases.  There were points where he would remain consciously awake but his body would fall asleep.  He had several hallucination spells (probably actual obe's, but they didn't mention that term on the show).  I can't remember why he was doing this experiment or what the show was even about since this show was aired several years ago.  Anyway, when he finished his experiment his body never recovered and became very ill and eventually died shortly afterward.  If I remember correctly he died several months after the experiment due to illness.

Anyway the reason I'm posting this is to make sure you are careful when doing this.  It might not be too safe.

Please reconsider doing this, it is very stressful for your mind and body.

When you are really tired, your astral body will automatically loosen from you physical body. This is no grounds to believe that you can CONCIOUSLY control the astral form however. In fact, I'd say that when you fall asleep you will be so tired that conscious projection will be close to impossible IMO.

I had insomnia a few years back and slept around 8 hours a week. I had never projected before and didn't during the disease.

I have felt extremely loose when I am very tired before but never actually projected. Any other experiences with this case?
