natural astral, or years of practice

Most, if not all of us, don't find OBE's/AP's a piece of cake.  In my case, I experienced my first conscious projection when I least expected it.  It happened in the middle of night after I was reading a book on OBE's.  I didn't consciously do anything to make it happen.  It just did because I BELIEVED they were real, and I BELIEVED that even I could experience one.

After my first, I started to practice perfecting them.  Sometimes, I am really good and have 3+ projections a week.  Other times, I go MONTHS without nothing!  My goal is to have these at will, whenever I want.  But so far, it's been almost 5 years since my first projection and I'm still working at it (which all of us here are doing).

Even those who can have them at will, I would venture to say, did not achieve this skill without a lot of hard work, dedication, and patience.  Just continue to read and be a part of this forum, and you'll find your inner spiritual man becomes more fulfilled (and your progress with OBE's/AP's will move forward).

It took me around 30 days give or take a couple (sometimes it can take years though). The thing that helped me was this website http://www.robertpeterson.org/obebook.html

I read it daily for the whole duration of the month and constantly tried whenever I got a chance to - the thing is though when I did project for the first time I wasnt trying, I couldnt be bothered and just wanted some sleep and bam! it happened lol.

Hi Wizzle
  From the time I started seriously practicing it took me four months to have my first projection.I listened to an hour of hemisynch a day combined with the NEW techniques from "Astral Dynamics."My first projection happened when I wasn`t trying and like Jeff my experiences seem to come in bunches:three of four in a week and then a dry spell.
  The key for me was to stop trying to make it happen.Now I just place a strong intent to project,clear my mind and let it happen.Usually takes me 45 minutes to an hour to get deep enough for the process to start unfolding.I`ve never projected while listening to the CD`s but I`m convinced they`ve been very helpful.
  Try a little of everything and see what works best for you.

You could say I am some what a natural projector. I had projected to the Astral before I knew what it was, so you could say that is natural ability. When I learned about astral projection and started trying to do it, it took me about 2 - 3 weeks to consciously project. Since that time I have been off and on in my practice. Usually after I have gone awhile without and start back, it takes make around 2 weeks to be able to do it again. But I cannot do it at will, though I think that it is possible if one practices and learns enough.

As others have said, it seems that in order to project you need to reach a state where you are not really trying to project. I think I have had the most success when I had the desire to project but was not trying at the time. Usually when I am only meditating or doing energy work I will suddenly feel like I can project. When one reaches this point I think it is very important not to get excited but instead just go with it. Learn to let go and just go with it. I think the biggest problem people have is that they try too hard and are not able to just fall into a projection, so to to speak.

Natural projector. I i have been undergoing these experiences since i was approximately 10 years old and at the age of 13 i did alot of Lucid Dreaming. If i read about astral projection and OOBE i managed to make OOBE at second try.

Thats a good question because i think it depends on what you believe. I never had them naturally meaning i had to learn about it before being able to do it, but the way i learned it, i was told that it is very natural, and easy, and anyone can do it and i really believed that and as a result i had one the same night i learned about it. I think it can be as hard as you make it. If you think it will take years to do or months to do you might end up experiencing it in that way.
