Title: Need a little more understanding...
Post by: Slix on January 27, 2009, 18:38:03
I've been attempting astral projection since about mid october now and i know it can take from a few months to decades before you have a decent projection but i still feel as if i've hit some sort of wall in my progress until i can clear some things i dont know if i understand correctly. I see nothing confusing about the actual projection itself but more about getting there.

I have projected before, sometime during november, but it was short. I was so amazed that i'd done it that i popped back into my body 5 or 6 seconds later. But wherever i go i hear that even a little alcohol inhibits our ability to project, yet i was quite drunk when the only projection i've ever managed occured.

Also i heared no sounds of people screaming or anything other people claim to have heared or felt... not even these vibrations i hear about. The only thing i noticed as it happened was a feeling that my face going through something like a thick gel (like Brylcreem or something  ) for about half a second and a noise that sounded similar to the sound you get when you cover your ears with your hands and then uncover them. next thing i knew i was floating 3 or 4 inches over my body and seeing the room around me much clearer than i believe i've ever seen it.

I've also had that sleep paralysis before and tried to move and been unable to. Unfortunately after realising i'm paralysed i'm once again free to move about half a second later, even if i want to stay paralysed. How am i supposed to know if i'm paralysed without causing myself to be set free of said paralysis? Should i just ignore the idea of being paralysed altogether?

Another thing im not sure about is the idea of these vibrations. People say they feel these vibrations yet fail to describe them in enough detail. are they just tingling size vibrations? small like an electric razor? medium like the rumble on a games console controller or strong like some sort of epileptic fit? or even weirder, does it get stronger the further into the astral you go?

I know my body itself shouldn't be trying to float but it keeps trying to anyways, even when i'm fully relaxed, it's like it gets a mind of its own... my chest just keeps lifting itself in the direction of the ceiling every now and then when i'm trying to project. got no control of it and dont notice until it starts to get uncomfortable.

In short how will i know for sure when i'm in focus 10 and what am i supposed to do about these vibrations? surely one must know what and how he's going to feel before he can try to induce such a feeling?

any advice or whatever would be greatly appreciated.

Only once have I felt the serious vibrations, every other time I try to AP I just get numb and warm. When I got to the vibrational state the 1st time it actually felt good all over my body. It felt exactly like volts of electricity going throughout your entire body minus the pain. You also feel very warm but once you feel your body you realize you arent hot at all..kinda weird.

Vibrations can be all of those things over time.  Sometimes, it is smooth and feels warm. Other times it is like an out of balance washing machine.  Other times, it is rough but even. My goal was always to make them as high and smooth as possible, and to push them over my body.

The vibrations can be all of those. I remember my first time feeling the vibrations (unintentionally at the time because I knew nothing of OBEs) it felt as if my bed was shaking and boy was I scared.

Pins and needles- Well, it is possible vibrations could be like that, but it may just be pins and needles too. It might depend on where you felt this.  There is a sensation I remember that is very slight- almost like how a cold chill will spread along. If this is felt in my head, it is usually the precursor to a more definite vibration sensation.  One thing I remember too is that when this happens, I usually know it- there is not a feeling of "is that a vibration?" or not.  That sense of knowing it is happening is very definite to me anyway.  It is an expectant feel, like a pressure you know is building, and will be let out.
