Hi,

I discovered these forums in 2005. I posted a couple of times many years ago, but forgot my username. Anyway, with that said, a bit of background and also what I need advice on.

So, I have had many lucid dreams now, but I have never had an AP/OBE experience. I have got to the point of vibrations and hearing people call my names, but I have no conscious recollection of an OBE. I tried MAP a few times. I got through about day 60 the last time before giving up. I have read many, many books on the subject. Overall, I am very certain that OBE are real, and that we can obtain them if we apply ourselves. I think that has been my biggest downfall is that I have not been able to commit myself 100%.

Anyway, what I need advice on is that I am thinking of teaching a free weekly workshop on OBEs/AP. I would be upfront and honest and tell everyone that I have never had a conscious experience. But, my feeling is that by teaching what I know I will motivate myself more and be more likely to have an experience myself, and I might be able to help others.

So, what I want to know is do you feel it is okay to start an OBE workshop despite never having had the experience? Like I said, I will tell everyone who comes to the workshops that I have never had a conscious experience. Also, I won't charge for it or anything.

Thoughts?

Hi WhatIsReal,

The fact you got to the vibrations and hearing names is a good sign.  I think that is the hardest part for some people.  its that quiet spot right before the vibrations come or noises.  I would recommend the shop as it will make your subconsicious always be thinking about OBEs which helps.

I also recommend buying a book, my favorite is:
Adventures Beyond the Body: How to Experience Out-of-Body Travel [Paperback]
William Buhlman (Author)

I feel a book maybe even more helpful than a workshop and cheaper.   This book is great, it really gets you immersed in the idea of the non-physical. I got my first OBE from this book by simply reading it.  I wasn't even trying to have an OBE when it occurred.  Its all about thinking about it throughout the day and really getting excited about it.

I have several OBE books actually. But, most ironic of all, I am reading right now the very book you just recommended.

I think you should hold off on hosting workshops until you have these experiences for yourself. By trying to teach workshops you are directing a great portion of your time and energy into hosting workshops instead of into having these experiences for yourself. I was at a workshop recently and it is very beneficial to have someone there who has experience in what they're doing. It will make you better suitable to help people. Now, if you want to get together with a group of other interested explorers and try to have experiences and do partnered explorations and other activities there's nothing wrong with that. Will there be some kind of special focus of group energy that will assist you with having these experiences who knows.. but personally I would just try to do it myself.. especially if you're trying to take on some kind of teaching or leadership role.. there's nothing wrong with that.. but even people who seem to be open minded can tend to be a bit judgmental, doubtful, skeptical, impressionable, or opinionated, and ask a lot of questions which you may not be able to answer from personal experience.

2fly said a lot of wise things. Just get together with like minded folks and try and learn from each other instead of taking on a teacher role like 2fly suggested. I think you might find that it's not so easy getting one interested person local to you much less enough to form a class.

Without the personal experience to rely on, teaching will be a tough gig and you may even lose confidence. Your on the right track now so I don't really see a need for a drastic change of any sort.

Since you have many lucid dreams, why don't you project from them? This will triple your confidence and belief and make phasing much easier. I think your looking too hard for a quick fix while the answer is right under your nose.

Good luck.

Mr_Coffee is right. You should go with this book. This book is very helpful for you and this is cheaper than workshops.
