Title: Need some pointers!
Post by: Projectborn on April 16, 2009, 18:46:10
Hello guys! I'm a new member and I've been dying to tell how my progress is comming along to someone who actually knows alto about the subject, I apologize for my English(I'm Swedish I am!) Anyways, IL try to explain how a normal night of trying to project plays out for me and Id love to hear your opinion on it. Here it goes:

I lay down in bed and immideatly a high pitch tone appears in my ear. After this I lay still for a long time, watching the spots on my eyelids and the pattern appearing in front of me. After a time it sometimes feel likes I'm falling, I try to imagine numbers and focus on them with my mind. After a time my heart begins beating like crazy and then the pounding from my heart spreads throughout my body, leaving me shaking(I think this is called vibrationstate, yes?) It keeps on going for like 10 seconds, I get excited and they die out. Ive been practicing this for about 1 month and everynight for the last week I get thees vibrations. Now Ive tried to roll out a couple of times but then I move my real body and my focus dies out. I also start seeing through my eyelids, dark blurred visions of form, very strange. Sometimes it looks like someone is using a flashlight and a small dot of light hits my eyelids, revealing whatever is there. Anyways, my question is, where do I go from here?

I wish you the best and again, sorry for the crappy English.

I've experienced something similar to what you're experiencing, the pounding heart is most likely due to the excitement of it all especially since it follows a classical pre-projection ear tone, piercing and calming at the same time right? Followed by a woozy feeling? The falling sensation is a classical feeling too. You've almost got it, judging by your post i can tell you first hand when you're going wrong, as i usually suffer from the same thing.

It's the excitement, and adrenaline.. It's snapping you out of the mind/body state required for a conscious projection.

So here's what you do; (You will need an alarm clock for this or someway of waking up)

Basically, you've got to desensitization yourself to the feeling. You have to feel it so often that it's no big deal. Now this can take a very long time unless you follow the steps i'm about to talk about.

1. You are going to want to perform your regular AP routine at night anyways, even if it doesn't work. It's good practice regardless, and will keep the idea of APing fresh in your mind.

2. This method is to be done in the hypnopompic stage. This is the stage where you are half-asleep after you've woken up. Try setting your alarm a few hours earlier than normal. When it goes off, set it back the way it needs to go (if you will still need the alarm to wake up for work/school/etc).

(Or 2 hours after you expect you'll be asleep, you could have a re-occurring alarm.. this will desensitize you to the feelings i discussed)

3. After waking up, go do something mundane for a little while so that you can kick your brain back into logic-mode. Go have a drink of water, a cigarette, whatever, take a leak.

4. Use that time that you have to breif yourself. APing should have an objective of some sort, come up with an objective, develop a short protocol on how you will handle any situations that could surprise you.

5. Get back into bed and do your AP procedure as normal. Mind Awake/Body asleep will happen quickly because your body will naturally want to get back to sleep. This makes it very easy.

6. Vibrations should come very quickly. Infact they may be very-very intense. This could startle you but it's okay.

7. You might feel like the vibrations are causing you to shift planes and you should become sort of numb yet very vibratory.

8. Try one of the exiting techniques, roll out, rope, getting up...

I was able to project in under a minute using this technique. It may surprise you that it can be that simple. It may or may not work for you, but for those that have been trying other night-time methods may have better success with this.

I usually try to project to some place I find safe/serene. Sometimes I just pop out in my room. The first thing you want to do is gather your thoughts, and breif yourself: Find out what you are going to do, figure out how you will handle certain situations good/bad, etc... popping out almost feels like waking up. Just like you wake up "here" and feel a little disoriented, it's the same when you wake up "there".

It's very easy to slip into alice in wonderland mode and thus "fall asleep" while out of your body, reverting the experience to a non or half-lucid dream.

I try to sing a song that I know all the words too, or just keep thinking about the immediate surroundings and imagine that you're holding them together somehow. Either way, you will have to focus on something that requires conscious thought.

I hope this helps, please keep me informed.

Wow! Thanks alot for the answers! IL start tonight with what you said, I actually have to get up in the morning and work for about 1 hour and then go back home to sleep so perhaps that would be a good time to try. Actually that part about singing a song in your head? Thats what I always do, though Ive always thought that it ruins it but perhaps its the other way around? I try to block out the song in my head and imagine numbers instead, perhaps I should just do the song in my head... hmm IL try it! Thanks alot! IL keep you updated mate ;)

Have a good one
