Uncomfortable rush of energy during the vibrational state

I know this has been asked here before, although in different ways, so I wanted to see if what I am experiencing is the same as others.

First off, a brief background history, seeing as this is my first post: When I was a child, I used to astral project all the time. So much, in fact, that it was difficult for me to separate reality from the astral realm (although I was always in my home or in areas near my home - I never experienced different planes. At least not consciously).

My problem is consciously astral projecting. I know it happens when I'm asleep and quite often, but I want to be aware of it while it is happening, not just remember bits and pieces when I awake. I want to have control. So I've been working on meditation before sleep. I can usually get to the vibrational state quite easily and I can focus this energy and control it, moving it from my lower body to my upper body and even making it go through my body in waves. After this state, when I am entirely relaxed and my body feels as if it's huge, swollen and heavy, and right when I think I can focus on exiting, I start getting this rush of very uncomfortable energy; my heart beats very quickly and my breathing becomes more rapid. I try to control this and focus on exiting my physical body, but then I just feel my limbs jerking and all this energy is almost jolting me. It becomes so uncomfortable I have to force myself to move and get up.

I've read that this is common and this is the state you are in before you actually exit - that this energy is your astral body getting ready for exit - is this true? And if so, since I'm apparently on the right track, how can I focus on actually leaving my body when I reach this uncomfortable state?

I guess you just need to keep on practicing. Ph. D. Stephen LaBerge has written that the vibrations are just onset of REM sleep, who knows. :)

You're correct, it's very common :) . As far as I know, about the only way to get through it is to keep trying. The more you experience it, the less intense and/or normal it will become and the transition will be much smoother. You won't feel your heart beating (it may even just be your heart chakra pulsing, which I've had associated with this phase) and breathing will become more natural. Keep trying!

Just like that old joke about of "how do you get to Carnegie Hall? "  Yep. Practice.  It sounds like you have had some good experiences with learning to focus the vibrations and move them around.  But do not rush it. I have found that the higher you can get your vibrations to go as far as frequency- the smoother they become.  Try to change the pitch.  When I did this, or when it was done to me (see my blog) my experiences started to get a lot easier to manage, and it was easier when I started to consider how to leave. Also, when this was happening for me, I found it best to start by getting used to having control of the experience and my emotions related to it. Start by only weaving your arms around, and then add your legs. Start slow. Get used to it.   And when it comes to the actual separation, it helped me to have a pre-set goal in mind. What I have done was to think of a person with whom I have a strong emotional tie. Just think intently on being with that person. Try not to think of any given process of how to separate. Like Yoda says (hey, it worked for me) Do not try. DO.  (Well, he did not say it exactly in that way, but you get the point.) Then witness the events. Want it to happen but try to not care too much when it does-
