For a bit of an introduction, I became interested in AP and spirituality recently after struggling with depression.  I've been depressed for the past year because I have been thinking about what my/our purpose in life is, and if this is just it and then we die and it's all over, but this stuff has really been helping with it, so I would definitely like to keep pursuing this.

Anyways, enough of that.  I have recently started to try to AP (since about 2 weeks ago).  I have no problem relaxing, I just have a problem getting to the next level, especially when I first go to bed. But this past week, I've tried APing when I first wake up and have been more successful, so here's where my questions come in.

So up until yesterday I could get to the (what i think is) the vibrational stage.  I can feel myself drifting off, but try to focus, and at this point if I can actually focus I start to feel a wave sort of motion from side to side.  Recently though, I can control this motion and have tried the roll out method with no success. It does feel like I'm rolling, but I just keep rolling and don't get anywhere, so is this really a vibration stage, and if so, how can I take it further to a full AP.

Second, yesterday I think I might have had my first AP but I'm not sure.  The reason I'm not sure is because I didn't use any particular technique to 'get out' of my body, it just sort of happened--I woke up in the morning and immediately tried to AP.  Relaxing obviously wasn't a problem, and I began to feel that wave motion, but it wasn't very strong.  At this point, an image flashed into my mind of being inside a store in an aisle.  I had no idea why this happened, but I just went with it and focused on that image.  Eventually, I was actually in the aisle and was thinking..what is going on and why am I here.  At this point, a saw a person in front of me (gender and everything else was indistinguishable), and then there was a flash of white light and a rushing sound, and I felt a force on my body and woke up.

Sorry for the wall of text here, but I was just wondering if that was a real AP, and if it was/wasn't, what the heck was it and what does it mean lol.  And any tips on how to fully AP would greatly be appreciated as I would like to continue exploring this.

Thanks

Xanth

Hi there vivalasteve!

It sounds like you successfully phased!  :)
Congratulations!

Read up on that link you gave, and it was pretty interesting.  So here are two more questions hopefully you guys could help me with...

1) So if I did successfully phase, how could I make it last longer? I wasn't afraid of anything, it just ended very abruptly without any notice.

2) How could I work on getting an OBE rather than phasing?  Apparently the rolling out method doesn't work because I could feel myself definitely rolling, I just didn't get anywhere and probably rolled for a a few good minutes haha.

Thanks guys

What caused you to wake up was that you experienced something that you really hadn't expected to happen... that unexpected action caused your protective self awareness to kick in and wake you up.  To counter this, you simply need to get used to what you're experiencing.  Just keep doing it.  :)

An OBE and Phasing are the same thing.  They just have different symptoms and feelings associated with them.  But you end up in the same place.

If you wish to have a traditional OBE to the etheric (realtime zone) there are many exit techniques in the Permanent Astral Topics- mine is in the third page, I think, if you want to read that.
