Visual Exercises

I have been Phasing twice a day for almost a year now and have found that of all the different techniques out there, the visualization has been my key to success. For the last month now I have split my daily sessions between the Laxman Light/Sound Machine (which I will be writing a personal review on soon) and visual exercises. The visual exercises really started after seeing the movie "Inception". Ignore the fact that the movie makes the Astral and Astral Travel in general look like a frightening thing. I particularly paid attention to the 'spinning top" that Leonardo used to weigh in his level of awareness. I would just close my eyes and relax, then try to picture the spinning top, after about a minute of focus on that, I noticed the spinning top would start to morph. Instead of trying to go back to the spinning top, I allowed it to take on a new life of it's own. Sometimes it would jump into a dance scene, whatever it did I was just a patient observer. After about 10-15 minutes of watching this I found I had totally Phased right into the Astral and now I was at the point of thought = action. In the last month I have started messing with a number of visuals. I have always enjoyed the peace and calm of my "safe zone" ,which mine has always been a quite beach scenario. But after a while that go boring so I decided to become adventurous. Next I played around with the sensations and visual of driving a car around an area that was familiar to me. This was cool, but put too much focus on the scene as would be expected because I knew the road I was travelling on. So I tried just driving down a road in general to see where it led me. Now this worked masterfully. You let your imagination just come up with new scenes, some could be tunnels, hills, winding roads etc. After awhile that got kind of boring too. So enter the "rollercoaster", I first visualized the empty car, I climbed into it and ride started, this was mind blowing. The thrill of going up the ramps, down the peaks, winding around curves at high speed, even going through spirals, being twisted upside down was exhilarating. You could physically feel as well your body slewing right or left depending on which way your visual was taking you. But I also found that whatever visualization I decided on, led to that level of experience in the Astral. A quiet beach scene ended up morphing into a quiet Astral scene, normally peaceful and calm, where as the rollercoaster morphed into a mindblowing dimensional experience. The trick to all this visualization is you need to practice, no matter where you are. Take a couple minutes at work to just close your eyes and visualize. You need to be able to do it at will, whether you are sitting, laying down in bed, it doesn't really matter what your body position is. You can visualize anything to start with, a candle, candy cane etc., anything will work.
I saved my best for last, this is the one came to me accidentally. I visualized a plain red ball, kept my focus on it for awhile, my mind got bored with it (which is something that happens all the time). So, I decided to kind of roll it a bit, I rolled it left, then right for about 2 minutes. I then accidentally rolled it to the right too much and to my surprise, my Astral hand caught it before it would hit the imaginary ground. I never expected that to happen. So, I decide to expand the idea, I took the ball in my right Astral hand and passed it to my left, kind of tossed it. Then I did the same back from the left hand to the right hand. Next when I tossed it I used a bit of an arc and watched it fly by my eyes, after a couple of minutes I was juggling it back and forth. My focus was totally on this game, but I was also feeling the sensation 100%. So I decided to up the game a bit and with my left hand I through the ball up high, when it came down, I bumped it back up with my left knee, then it came down and I bumped it with my right knee. Pretty soon it was like playing Hacky-sac, so I changed the ball visual into a bean bag and kept on playing. The next upgrade was to add some background, so I chose a grassy background, after that it got boring just playing by myself. So, one time I hit my hacky-sac with my knee and then saw that another person appeared beside me and hit it back to me. Pretty soon there was a group of players.
The key to all of this is practice. But what is the most unique thing about this is that it takes on a whole new life of it's own. You start any scene and let it build. Don't make it build, allow your visualization the freedom of taking on it's own persona. You will definitely achieve your goal of Phasing, but you will also have a ton of fun doing it.
On another note the Laxman so far is one of the most unique modern marvels I have seen. After 1 minute your entire physical focus is completely gone. But, I have found that I like to just enjoy the sensations it gives me more than I like to Phase from it. I usually wait to Phase after the 20 minute trip is complete. More of that to come on this.
In closing to this I just want to say, everyone can visualize. I have found this to be the single most important thing needed for constant successful Phasing. The scenarios are endless. Just sit back, relax release all your control on the physical and trust. If you to want stay safe at first start with something simple, something that you find tranquil. After awhile you will become more adventurous and that's when it gets to be a real experience.
No matter what visual you start with, your mind will get bored of it after a short while. When you first attempt any visual it will be hard to keep the image strong for longer than 10 seconds. But don't despair, practice, practice, practice and your rewards will be bountiful.  :-)

Those are some good tips Lionheart. :) I'm also a believer in that you can constantly improve your level of visualization with practice, and it's an excellent tool to get you into the astral.

Great post. And thanks for some ideas  :-D. Ive also used the spinning top in the past, but I sort of forgot about it. I might have to give it another go :).

I find that this technique adds a new sense of discovery to the overall Phasing process.
