Little Questions

Have any of you astral projected outside of REM sleep? I am constantly worried about mistaking a lucid dream for astral projection. How do you tell the difference?

Is the astral realm a static place that has geography? For example the 'Temple of blah blah' is next to the 'Mountains of blah blah'. You could practically say to another projector 'Hey have you visited the Temple of blah blah' and he will say 'Yeah dude the one next to the mountains of blah blah?' 'Yeah! that one!'

Silly questions I know. But they have been bugging me :D

Unconscious phasing(Astral Projection) and Lucid Dreaming are pretty much the same thing IMO. Once your lucid though, get to where you need to go and beyond, take advantage. Sometimes your subconscious will have more control, sometimes your conscious mind will have more control. Vividness may vary.

All it takes is good practice and discipline of mind and you will get the hang of it..  :-)

For those who believe, no explanation is necessary. For those who do not, none will suffice. ~Joseph Dunninger

I would also like to know the answer to the geography thing, thought i'd guess the astral realm is constantly changing i guess.. things disappearing and appearing to left and right... or it could the just appearing.. i dunno, but interesting never the less.

For your first question I have a pretty good example. I was once dreaming that I was in my house, near the back door, and for whatever reason I became lucid. So I was aware that I was dreaming of my nearby environment, I thought about going and checking my body, and WHAM the entire texture of my surroundings changed. I went from dreaming of the back door to looking at the real thing. There was a clear difference--the dream had more saturated colour, the real thing was lit only by moonlight. Also I knew by instinct that I was now in the out of body state.

In another dream, I was trying to show someone else that I had gained the ability to leave my body at will. So, in the dream, I laid down and left my (dream) body. I knew immediately that something wasn't right--I felt weak, diminished. I returned to my body in the dream, then woke up with a killer headache!

For your second question...in my experience you'll most often encounter a world closely overlaid on our own...but I've seen repeating and 'stable' locations that have either no physical parallel or a vague connection to the real world, like huge, exaggerated sand dunes at the beach.

This concept is extremely hard for me to wrap my head round. I guess this is half the battle of becoming a proficient projector.
I still don't understand the geography of the astral realm. If I bumped into another projector, would we both be seeing and experiencing the same thing?

I have another question too. How come in all the Astral Projection accounts I have read that everyone in the realm can speak English? You would think that there would be a multitude of languages, especially when speaking to aliens.

Thank you for your replies so far!

its not that they all speak english, there is no air so its not like you hear them
emotional information is decoded by your mind so you hear english

Hi
Your second question
Have a read of MDM's website and look on youtube.
The astral is really massive and you can create things within it.
The communication is telepathic so you need to experience it for yourself to understand better.
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

It's my experience that Lucid Dreams *ARE* astral projections of a slightly lesser conscious awareness.
For that matter, dreams are projections of an unconscious nature.  Really simple.

Once you stop worrying about what your experience is and just aim at ENJOYING the experience... you'll find those experiences will be better.  :)

I've recently had several "astral projections" awake, just meditating.  Learn how to get your brain into theta waves and your intent will control the experience from then on.  Silence your intellect and just be, if you are thinking in your head, silence them and carry on.  It is possible to have these experiences while awake and conscious with out slipping into delta waves(unconsciousness) but it takes lots of practice.  You can even parallel process different "dimensions" at the same time, being both here and "there" simultaneously(though this takes that much more practice).

And about the astral projection vs. lucid dream, the only difference is a lucid dream you have a lapse in consciousness prior to becoming aware/awake in the dream.  There is no real difference between the "location" of the experiences.  Don't be too focused on "physical" details of the terrain or location.  These states of mind have more to do with the interactions and events than specific details, hence everything is interpreted in metaphors.  Said metaphors will be filtered by your beliefs and intents.  So try to limit your beliefs or better yet, shed them completely so you can experience this in its purest translation.

Hope for nothing, fear nothing.

I was one place above the astral, I think, and I was undergoing a test and things weren't going well and the Teacher indicated I should leave and I dropped down through a sort of misty cloud region, flying and approaching planet earth RTZ, and I realized that I must've been over Egypt. I flew over Europe and then when I reached Scandinavia at nearly ground level I shot up very high and 'phased' into the astral. I went to a place that I believe is semi-permanent with features that persist and could be described by others and I would recognize the place.

I was reading Crowley and he described a most unusual astral place with detail that matched enough that I believe I was in the same place.

I would love to find more matches like that. But they are rare.
