The Astral Body

Alright, so aware that there are different levels to experience as a consciousness. The one commonly experienced by OBE's is the vehicle form *the astral body*.

Now, lately I've been experimenting in having conscious OBE encounters. I have had a few from lucid dreams but I am attempting to deepen and develop my ability's as I'm sure most of you are. After reading over the FAQ, as well as various books I've tried different techniques.

I'm aware that expectancy isn't the greatest tool to explore the astral world but i do have some questions as to what the Astral Body Feels like. Commonly, I will reach a deep state of relaxation and consciousness, momentarily lose connection with my physical body.. Start to be aware that I'm expanding.. Yet when i feel I've reached a good state to move my astral body outwardly (via rope technique, floating, rolling out etc etc) I disconnect.

It seems that my association with my physical body is acting like a blockage. Since I am so familiar with the functions of my physical body I subconsciously think that my Astral Body will take on the same sensations.  This has been a big void in my experiences. I'm not too sure what it would "feel" like to use my *astral arms* in comparison with my physical arms. Sometimes I'll feel like I am aware of my body double yet when I go to reach for this imaginary rope or imagine myself sitting upwards I am suddenly reconnected to find that... *Damn, I am actually physically sitting up.. I am moving my actual arms*

Any suggestions from personal experiences? What is the difference in sensations of moving the astral body and the physical body? Your comments would be greatly appreciated .

Hello,

This sounds similar to my experience.  If you are having trouble overcoming your mindset, work out which 'method' your consciousness responds best to!  Punishment!  Going back again over your methods!  Or reaching a deeper level of relaxation.

You can do it, there's a lot to see, but look inside yourself and you will  find it.

I have the same problem , I get relaxed to a state i feel i couldn't get any more , but then nothing happen's , so normally i end up imagining stuff like the rope thing , and i end up using my hand's.

I dont even bother trying to move.  I have never had a success where I have sat up and moved.  All my successes (80+) have come from waiting.  I relax deeply.  I relax into the relaxation.  I feel myself lighten.  I see patterns forming.  I feel myself being thrown in all directions in zero gravity.  I see rainbows and colored dots flowing in front of me as I rocket through endless space.  No matter what happens I keep waiting.  I have failed so many times trying to move at even this deep of a state.  Eventually my vision comes clear and I am projected.  THEN I go about my business.  Try it.

Ooh, ooh, I got this one covered.

The 'astral body' acts NOTHING like your real body. In your real body, to lift your arm, you well... lift your arm. With your 'astral body', you think, "I want to see my arm." If you want to move from one place to another, you think "I want to be over there."

It's weird, because it's not like moving from one body to another. The key is to concentrate on what you want, and it will happen. To try to lift your arm the same as you do in real life would feel somewhat akin to moving through sludge.

Simply concentrate on what you want to do, not how you are going to do it.

As a final note, expectancy is the biggest anchor you'll ever find. Ignorance is truly bliss.

This post was a great help for me! I always thought you moved your limbs like you would in real life, so thank you for this infomation.

Also, while trying to project yesterday, I heard a scream. Any thoughts..o.o

hey man, im glad you asked that question. i too was wondering how im gonna go about 'exiting' my physical body without..moving around. uhh, while you heard the scream, were you aware of your body at the time? just out of curiosity. hearing weird things and sounds seems to be a part of the experience, like the visuals and the peculiar physical sensations. i find them very distracting, but from i hear, you are not that far away from projection. dont take my word for it tho..

instead of trying something like sitting up or moving your arm try something you can't actually physically do, like float up, or fly out, or slide out.  This might help.
