Title: Projecting in positions other then sitting or lying on back?
Post by: Amorda on December 21, 2012, 13:06:22
 :?

Question.
Is it possbible to project or meditate in positions others then sitting in lotus or laying on ones back? I find that I am fully comfortable when I lay on my stomach or if I curl into a ball on my side. What do you think?

I've had the most success being on my side. I don't think the positions matter so much. Whatever gives you success, roll with it. Experiment. See what happens. I think the biggest thing is being comfortable.

Good to know! I think I'll try laying on my side as well and see what happens. Hopefully I don't get too comfy and fall asleep. Haha. Thanks, chopstick! :)

You can project/meditate in any position so long as you're able to ignore the physical.

I'm pretty sure you can project standing up. :-D

You CAN!
I came pretty close one day while waiting for my ride to come pick me up from after work.

It's all about ignoring the physical.  If you can do that, then it doesn't matter what position you're in, you can project.

I think Bedeekin mentioned projecting while driving once.

Yes... it's weird in that there was no break in me being me from the instructors point of view. I carried on doing what I was supposed to while my attention was elsewhere. It was brief because I was worried I would crash.

I don't drive because of this... I never got past the lesson stage.

I do slip into 'state' very easily while there is an engine drone; like a car, bus or train... I can attribute this to having most of these journeys after waking up as they are early morning.

I also experienced this when me and Kath were walking the dog... it was preceded by feeling rather 'out of it' like I was experiencing me walking and talking. I thought 'Kath... I feel wierd' and then said it a moment later as I watched from behind and slightly to the right.

I have also slipped into SP and an ensuing OOBE whilst watching TV with my eyes open. Only once though.

I've been working while sat on a chair doing a repetitive soldering job. Switched to autopilot mode and started to see a carpark through the desk and wall infront of me. I almost fell off the chair. Soon snapped back. Thats about it.
Bedeekin, you must have a natural tendency to exit far greater than almost anyone. Was the art relatively easy to learn?

All these were totally involuntary. I think I am just used to slipping into the state. Maybe I have loosened myself. I am well greased!! lol

I don't know.

Apart from the one where I was walking the dog, they were I am sure like your own.. where I was doing something active while there was a sense of repetitiveness.. .in the car this was probably the drone of the engine coupled with a mental activity.

I have never been able to do it voluntarily.

Makes me wonder.
Sit or prop yourself up in some relative comfort.
Put on a droning noise.
Not have much sleep for a couple of days.
Use a mantra including the ubiquitous ommm.
Look infront of you focus into the distance, ignore what you can see.
Wait for some event to affect your senses.
Would be interesting to try.

Good idea.

Maybe can be done also by doing a repetitive action.

I might try it actually. :)

I don't know if this is the same thing... But there will be times where I am in the passenger seat of a car and I will space out completely. I will not even realize what's going on around me, and I'm just engaged with my thoughts. I often catch myself doing that and go "oh... I'm in a car right now.." its like I totally forget. I always blow it off as daydreaming, which it probably is.
