phasing process

I have a few questions regarding phasing and variables required for success.  Any help would be really appreciated.

What state of mind is required for you to phase?  How aware are you about where you are and what you are doing during this process?  How conscious are you in general?  What level of trance are you in?

Do you try to phase or do you just set up the right circumstances and let it happen?  Can you describe your over all process, including your state of mind, and its change throughout the process?  For example, you might clear you mind of all thoughts until it happens, or drift off into a day dream and suddenly realize you are on the verge of projection.

Do you know when you are about to phase?  Can you describe the circumstances just before it actually occurs?

Thanks

I can answer your questions, but I think the best thing would be for you to read the following post by Frank:

It answers all of your quesitons plus lots more and in great depth. It is considered by many to be the best post about phasing on this site (and arguably any others).

Enjoy!

Has anyone on this forum ever phased from mental projection into astral projection?

Thanks

what do you mean "mental projection"?

Bruce Moen taught mental projection, I don't know if you are aware of his work or not.  He called it "focussed attention."  What it is, is using your imagination to travel to the afterlife, do retreval work, or what ever else you might do in astral projection.  The difference is that you are not nearly as lucid.  You know whats going on, see flashes of images, or short clips of whats going on, but its mostly just like daydreaming, or a 2 D experience.  According to Meon however, it can be turn into full color 3D experience.  I think its just phasing, but only partially.

I actually tried it for the first time a few minutes ago, and it worked.  I asked for a helper, felt him (i think it was a he) approach me, and asked him to take me to someone in need.  He flew, and I followed.  When we landed, I saw a completely unexpected vivid (frightening) image of a woman with blonde hair, and a hat on (I think it was green.)  She was white and was wearing a plad cotton shirt.  She was sitting on a bench outside, looking distressed.  She was the least person I expected to see, and it happened completely random.  I started to talk but my Mom persistently called for me (in this dimension).  Oh well, I tried to reconnect with the lady afterward, and I hope I helped her.

This was so natural for me to do, if I could just turn this into a vivid full experience, it would make things way easier.

Yes I have done it and yes it is phasing -- at least to my definition. Phasing simply means turning your awareness from the outer world to the inner one. It is shifting your focus of attention to things not perceived by the physical senses.

You are correct, however, in that this method typically keeps lucidity of the experience rather low because you are not fully in the experience. However, it is possible to turn it into a fully lucid experience by simply releasing your mental 'hold' on the physical and fully merging with the internal experience.

Ya thats what I thought.  I'll try the rundown exercise and mental projection, and hopefully I'll learn how to fully phase.

I have been trying phasing for awhile with relatively little success.  But the other night I was seeing the hypnogogics when there was a bright light that filled my 'vision' it was like a strobe light, but it accellerated to an amazing speed and then when it seemed like it could not go any faster it just dissappeared.  And it wasn't a focused light, but like a sheet of light over my entire field of vision.  Whats going on there?

I've seen this-- as well as colored lights. Sometimes you'll hear sounds as well. Some think its your mind playing tricks. Others believe it is something to do with the chakras kicking in and activating. Not sure what the exact answer is, but I haven't found it to be dangerous. So I would keep up what you are doing and if it happens again, just observe it and keep going.

You just like close your eyes and watch all the activity occurring in the blackness. After that I believe you should start seeing random images, one will stay still and you will be sucked into it.

I believe at first, the deeper into a "trance" you can get without falling asleep will fetch you the best results.

Really phasing is all about relaxing and going with the flow. Relax your attention. Relax every bit of awareness in your body, but retain your consciousness, and it will start to alter and morph and crazy things start happening. Then you hit some magical point where your mind just comes to life right in front of you. I've only been there a few times and it really was amazing how easy it was once i got into the right frame of mind.
