Hey all.

So now that I've had the chance to really sit down and learn about astral projection, I have reached a point where I no longer have any fear and I feel confident. The only problem is, I have never been good with relaxing and sleeping. I've had so many sleep issues in the past, and each night it can take me up to an hour to fall asleep. I meditate once or twice a day now, and keep a dream journal. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may make projecting more possible for me? The real issue now is that I can meditate for a long time, relax my body, but I never reach a vibrational state (I know you don't have to) or feel any separation. I'm such a bad sleeper that I never even fall asleep when meditating. I've tried once or twice in the morning after waking up, but I lose focus very quickly. Does anyone have any advice for me? I feel like once I can reach a hypnagogic state I will very easily be able to project. Thanks!

That's definitely a great first step.
Although, don't get too cocky... what I mean is that the person who declares that they have no fears, usually has the most self-inquiries to make.
Just saying.  Don't overestimate yourself... humility is a great tool.  :)

Dream journals really only assist in remembering your experiences... dreams or otherwise.  So it won't help you fall asleep...
As for suggestions, you'll need to work on meditating.

Then you need to figure out a way to hold that focus.

With meditation, you need to learn to focus on something... then the other half if learning to hold that focus for extended periods of time.  THIS is the very basis behind conscious projections.  :)

Try to learn how to just RELAX, RELEASE and LET GO. Then ALLOW what's going to happen. When something does, just passively observe it with an "air of curiosity".

Lose all expectations and just learn to experience what you shall be shown.

You will experience all kinds of "sign posts" along the way. Just notice them for what they are and STAY THE COURSE!  :-)

You say you have never been good at relaxing.   You say you relax your body so you can relax.   You do not need to fall asleep to ap.   It is best if you are awake and alert so you will not miss any ap signs.   Being a bad sleeper does not disadvantage you.   When you lose focus it means you have to practice more to concentrate.   It happens to me.   You could do what Lionheart suggest to do and that is to relax and let go.   Quite often that is all that is needed.   You can ap instantly.   That is why it is important to stay awake and alert otherwise you can fall asleep.
