I need some advice on APing, I have tried but don't seem to get there. I have some pretty big problems with sleep, it seems like I can only sleep once my body and mind are tired enough to just click off. Otherwise I lie awake with my brain just trekking away on some idea, notion, or just rehashing the day's events. I actually have a sleep study coming up in less then a week and may get some answers then but I would like to know if anyone has a method of AP for my situation.

I believe I have experienced my mind awake with my body asleep on many occasion. I don't think I was deep enough into sleep but I was dreaming. Kind of like a more vivid day dream. Sometimes it seems like I am watching an episode of my favorite show only to have it disappear once I open my eyes. I wake up several times a night, or rather day as my sleep has become inverted.

Difficult to get my mind to quite, many thoughts all branching to many more. I might have ADD, I should look into that.

I normally get discouraged very easily but so far I am remaining strong on AP. I want to believe. Any advice for my situation would be appreciated :-)

Meditate more. That will help you clear your thoughts easier. I have ADHD, but once I learned how to meditate, I can clear my thoughts easier, even if I don't take my medication for it. And don't get discouraged so easily. If failing to project a few times already discourages you... you have a long way to go on your spiritual journey....

As for your sleep disorder, I cannot help you with that. I'm not a doctor.

Didn't say I was discouraged, just saying that its difficult but I still am actively pursuing this goal. Which is abnormal for me, there is just something about the concept of astral projection that is....connecting. I really want it.

What would be a good meditation starting point for someone with ADD or ADHD?

Meditation music could help you relax so you can focus.

I have trouble getting to sleep if I miss a night it doesnt help to sleep during the day I would just lie awake.

Any meditation. People like us with ADD or ADHD are usually pretty brain-scattered. So unfortunately, the best meditation, and usually the most important meditation for us is a slightly more difficult one. Our best option is to get good at focusing on completely clearing our minds. That's hard sometimes for people who have elevator music and a jumble of thoughts constantly running through our heads... lol. But it definitely pays off. Learning how to clear your mind is an important skill.l

Have you tried visualization techniques?  I usually project by phasing or some kind of phasing/ SP combination.  This method came easier for me in the beginning, but I have to say I find it much more boring than visualizing.  It's harder to keep your mind cleared when you're following little spots of color behind your eyelids. (phasing)  It's just easy to get sick of doing that and for your mind to start wandering.  Visualizing, however, is more active, fun and engaging.  Maybe it would be easier for someone with ADD to focus on?  I don't have ADD myself, so I don't know, but definitely worth a try.

Visualize yourself floating around in your house, backyard or neighborhood.  See it all in your mind. Don't linger too long in one area or you might get bored and loose focus.  Try visualizing different things until you find what you 'see' best.  Use your imagination and keep changing it up to keep it interesting.  Practice during the day just sitting in a chair with eyes closed.  (as an exercise -not to AP)  Then do the same thing any time you wake up during the night (or day as the case may be!)  Just lie there and do what you did during practice.  If you can hold your focus on what your visualizing for long enough, you'll end up in a projection. Also, as your visualizing, allow your visuals to morph into what they want to. Let them take on a life of their own.  When that starts happening, you'll probably project any second.   Good luck!  :)
