Some of you know I have bought the hemi-sync for out of body.
Tried it for the first time last night and thought i was actually getting some success!!!

I got to the point where I could not feel my body and kept drifting in and out of consiousness - everytime I felt i was drifting to sleep something would trigger in my mind to keep it alert (and i was aware of this happening). And was in total blackness with strange thoughts and images rolling around my mind - like a movie in sort of negative pictures (by negative i mean when you used to get photos developed and were given the negatives). I also kept seeing lots of swishing yellow light randomly within the blackness.

However, this experience was short lived as the telephone rang!!! grrrrrrrrrrr

So when I tried again, the telephone rang again and the cat jumped on me!
By this time I gave up and tried again later, but I could not get back to the state i had felt previously so hopefully will try again tonight

The point just before you were drifting into sleep... with your body, relatively numb... that's Focus 10.

i am only familiar with franks focus levels at the moment - so not sure what focus 10 is until i get my snout in monroe's books tonight  :-D

Robert Monroe described Focus 10 as Mind Awake, Body Asleep. It is pretty much a trance state.

It's the absolute BEST description of what Focus 10 is and what you'll possibly experience.

That single post by Major Tom made me stop questioning *IF* I've ever been in Focus 10 and realize that I've been doing it for a long time now.

Thanks for that xanth - i think you may be right

I also remember that my jaw had relaxed and wasnt closed in my mouth. When we are awake we keep our jaw shut but when asleep its open slightly when it relaxes - which is what happened to me numerous times and yet i was fully aware

When i finished and got up though i felt really hazy like i was extremely sleepy and not quite knowing where i was. Sort of disorientated when trying to go about the house when you have not quite woken up properly. Is this normal?

I have certain "markers" now which I realize happen when I come into or am close to Focus 10.

The big marker for me are my eyelids.
Generally, I have some issues with my eyes staying closed... however, when I'm close to or at Focus 10, I can feel my eyelids shutting tightly.  Like my body is making the final adjustments to fall asleep.

Yeah i can relate to that Ryan - i too have a prob keeping them closed at first. But the exercises in this CD i have makes you do your breathing excercises with your eyes open and then closed. At that point you actually want to close them because they start to feel heavy and sting a little

your eyes are probably the most important organ that you need to relax and let sleep
