  To get the ball rolling, I'll start with my most recent meditation session.
  I started with some MBA exercises through my legs and arms to kind of pass the time while my body relaxed enough to "fall asleep" Then started at the feet and tried working my way up the body with my awareness....I feel energy sensations much more readily in my hands, feet, and limbs than my torso.  Often times I will visualize a stirring type motion to stimulate areas.  I did this for some time, but seem to keep wanting to flip my attention back to my body as a whole....to kind of check to see what state of awareness its in...need to stop that.
  Anyway, as an unfortunate side effect of this recent exercise, when I stopped meditating... Ifelt so energized that I couldn't go to sleep for several hours....LOL, boy am I feeling it at work right now. Later

Hello everyone, and thanks for inviting me into the group.

SSGR: My experience with NEW has been that it has had the benefit of enabling me to relax my muscles.  I had been practicing relaxing my muscles with a view to OBE/AP practice but always had problems in that as I worked up my body I would find I would tense up again in areas I had relaxed; also I would get itches everywhere and feel extremely uncomfortable after a while.

For me, NEW has been a way to relax easily.  I suppose in a way I have used it as a meditation exercise in itself; by focusing completely on getting an energy circuit going in my body it has had the effect of automatically making me forget about my physical body.  My muscles relaxed and my whole body felt energised to the extent that I would feel myself pulsing or vibrating with energy (not the violent vibrations mentioned in the forums prior to OBE exit).

Basically my technique is to start first on my right leg, then the left.  Firstly I brush my toes (going a couple of inches past the end of them), then feet, then push energy (sponge?) up from my toes, through feet, up legs to hips, then back down again.  At first it is a little slow, then when I can get it moving smoothly I move to the next leg.  After the legs I do my arms & hands using the same principle.  Then my spine.  Sometimes if needed I do a little on my face (cheekbones, eyebrows, lower jaw, & upper lip through nose to forehead & back.  As to the face I feel this might not be so pertinent to everyone else but I have had operations on my face in the past so for me it  cleared some major blockages.  It took me a while before I could feel anything in my tongue or throat but this is clearing now.  Sometimes I go down my front once or twice if needed.  Once everthing is clear I move on to the full body circuit.

I also found that the slashing technique RB mentions in NEW for the spine can work equally well anywhere on the body for major blockages you can't clear otherwise.

Dave, I think this might be the best way to attempt OBE/AP - your body is now relaxed and also has plenty of energy for an AP, at the same time your mind is alert - body asleep/mind awake being the optimum scenario for successful out of body experiences.

For myself, I do have problems with meditating; my mind wanders!  I am working on it but once I stop doing the energy work my brain goes off on a tangent [:(]  I have been reading that counting your breaths might help for this.  Any tips on quieting the mind will be gratefully appreciated.  At the moment I am "watching my thoughts", in other words noticing how much thoughts bounce around in my head - it came as a bit of a shock to say the least, how much I've been chattering away to myself without realizing it.

And finally... I also have an interest in healing.

Thought I'd update you as to where I am with NEW.

I start on my toes, however, I'm having problems with my feet generally.  I know where it stems from.  Firstly, I'm a bit squeamish about feet.  If anyone starts talking about operations on their feet, my whole insides just curl up and I want to tell them to shut up!  Secondly, I don't have much physical feeling in my feet, I haven't the ability to separate my toes, they stay together when I try, and my feet are almost always cold (and often numb inside).  Thirdly, I had an operation on both feet about 20 years ago (possibly where my squeamishness stems from) and a few nerves in one foot never quite fully recovered.  And finally, fourthly, I'm incredibly ticklish on  my feet and won't let anyone near them, especially the soles.  

So, all in all, the thought of moving awareness to my feet is already a stumbling block, before I've even done anything!

I did try this morning, but wasn't getting anywhere, so I moved onto my legs.

I have a feeling that feet are very important and I mustn't neglect them (for grounding reasons and so on), so I will persevere with them, but they seem to be causing me to "stutter" with NEW.  Perhaps I'll spend more time with my feet and get to know them better.  Robert Bruce does say that looking after them, massaging them, putting cream on them, does help.  I'd just rather not!!

Even writing this is making me toes curl!!  Ridiculous, isn't it?

So, if any of you come across parts of your body that won't respond, don't immediately put it down to an energy block - it may be a psychological block (as I believe mine is).

BTW Stephanie - thanks for encouraging me to read Astral Dynamics again, I've gleaned so much more from it the second time around, especially the NEW section.  I just wish he hadn't started with feet!!  Oh, and great to see you're in the group!!

As to quietening the mind during meditation, I was advised to count breating.  You can also focus on the action of your breathing, even imagining a strong healthy colour on the inhale, and a different colour on the exhale.  I found I got quite absorbed in this, and my surface mind forgot about everything else!  Trouble was, after a while, my mind got used to this and was able to continue with the counting/colours, and also chatter away as well!!  But it did help, and I find I'm much better at keeping it quiet now.

Dave - I notice you said you get to the point where your body is relaxed enough to "fall asleep" before you practice NEW.  Don't you find it hard to point your awareness on your body if it's so relaxed?  I find relaxing very easy (not boasting, just saying) and at times when my eyes are closed, I get the feeling my leg (for instance) is bent awkwardly, even when I know for sure it's out straight.  This makes it difficult for me to move my awareness, because it wants to go one way and I'm trying to make it go another way!!  So, when I practice NEW, I tend not to relax to the point of 'limpness'.

Finally, (this is long post - sorry), since starting NEW, I'm having more lucid dreams.  I even had one last night where I was talking to my husband.  In the dream, he looked nothing like what he does in real life.  I said to him, "this is a dream, I know this is a dream, because you don't look like that really" and decided to dispose of the dream and have an OBE.  Unfortunately, I immediately forgot what happened next!!!  All good stuff though.

I think you need to learn to love your feet! [:)]  After all, they are a part of you and to love yourself you have to accept yourself (including.. ugh!... feet!).  If you can't bear to touch them or focus on them directly, it might help to imagine energy hands massaging them from an area of a few inches outside of your feet, ie massage the aura so to speak.  The slashing technique (NEW) could help a lot with this; I've used it in places where I had numbness & no feeling and can now get a flow going in these areas.

My feet are also cold the majority of the time but I am finding I can warm them up with energy to them during practice... the test will be in winter so I'm aiming to get lots of energy up for my feet & hands by then!

I think a lot of energy blocks are in fact psychological blockages which manifest as energy blocks and then as physical problems.  Try this link about auras and their effects: http://www.healer.ch/Chakras-e.html and follow the link at the bottom of the diagram; "How it all Works".  It all ties in (imo!) with energy, healing, meditation, obe/ap, enlightenment etc.

Meditation:  I tried doing the breathing but it kind of turned into another energy exercise lol!  I'll keep at it though!  I got to 10 after a few attempts so I made a start.  However, I think "something" happened, I felt much calmer & lighter afterwards.  I usually ask for guidance from my higher self during energy work and use this as a kind of meditation - I have many blockages but I think these are more in my aura than in my physical body?  What I mean is I can get energy moving in a circuit (not straight away but after a little while) up my legs, arms, spine to head then back down to sub-naval, but when I try massaging using energy hands away from the body in the aura, I am finding some nasty dull (throbbing?) areas, especially in the middle of my back and between my shoulder blades, as well as around the solar plexus (at front) and a few other areas but less severe.  I did give myself a nice foot massage though [;)].  Then it was as if something (my higher self? spirit guide?) took over and helped - it was like I was being stroked from head to toe and it felt really calming.

As far as lucid dreams go, I haven't had any for a while, but instead have been having some interesting dreams which have been insightful and I feel are teaching me in preparation for things to come, so I'm not too upset [;)]

btw, I've only read NEW (online), but I am about to treat myself to a copy of Astral Dynamics, I've been wanting to read it for AGES.  At the moment I'm reading The Power of Now; I swear when I read parts of it I can feel it physically, which is what the author intended.  I'd been given this book 6 months ago but didn't feel the time was right to read it then; for some reason last week I felt it was a good time to start it.  I think I probably needed a little energy awareness in order to appreciate it fully.

  Hey!  Good to see everyone (except Utmost C.....? )  Just to let everyone know I work on a day off day on schedule, and do not always have access to the internet.

Sarah: Great chatting with you online those few times, best of luck with your getaway.  As far as my relaxation, I get relaxed sometimes so much that I don't really feel my body physically....I do my MBA work and when I am coming out of it its almost difficult to move a limb again :)

I think, like you said, that you have some major blockages in your feet because of all your history of surgery and whatnot.  All I can offer up there is keep plugging away, I have also had surgery (Knee) that left me without feeling still to this day.  Just work on it gradually....you know "baby steps" LOL.  I believe the pursuit of spiritual/energy development is all about patience and perseverance, just don't give up!

Stephanie: I'M RIGHT HERE!! LOL... Glad to see you on here.  I also have problems getting totally comfortable at the beginning of a session, as far as slight itches, or slight pressure from blankets or some such on my toes (cutting off circulation).  I think it is very important to get that though, whenever I do manage to get comfy, I usually have a much more relaxed meditation session.  I always do the same thing to get relaxed....I lay propped up (so I don't fall asleep as easy)  and start by taking a few very deep, slow breaths just focusing on all the tension and stress in my muscles and tissues relaxing and floating out of my body as I breathe out.  Then I begin either color breathing (in with a bright and nice color, like white, or light blue filling my body, and out with a dark brown or black color being pushed out of me), or a mind awake/body asleep exercise (in breath, visualize my head/mind brightening white, out breath visualize the rest of my body going from light blue to darker blue).  Also, glad you ordered Astral Dynamics, its an outstanding read!

Utmost Certainty:  Thanks for the suggestion of working on my temples and crown chakras with MBA, worked out good, nice meditation session.  Where you at man?

ALL:  I'm going to continue with trying deep meditation and MBA work all over my body, my next goal is pretty much to be able to do a full body circuit with out any real problems, or blockages....my work schedule is pretty crazy and I'm not exactly in a relaxing/stress free environment so I've got some work to do!  Talk to you all soon.

Dave:  I've only had a few lucid dreams; 2 of them I couldn't OBE from, the other 3 were successful in that I got out but very briefly & didn't manage to actually get anywhere other than tangled up.  And one OBE or AP through phasing I think, at least that's what I was aiming for, but that was competely different & didn't feel like I was in a body (I had no recollection of leaving my body - following a camera flash in 3rd eye I was floating and everything was much clearer than in the lucid dream OBEs.)  Oh yes, and I had a few dreams where I became lucid after eating, drinking or smoking in my dream because it tasted so much better, really pure & sharp, but didn't think to exit from those, was too engrossed in the experience!

I have good news and good news - which do you want first?!

I've managed to get my feet going!  It was a great feeling - I got the awareness going in and out of each toe and wrapping around.  I'd had a shower beforehand and rubbed some cream into my feet (thanks, Stephanie - I've started liking my feet!), so they were quite stimulated to start with.  I even got the soles of my feel going!!

I've now had about 2 weeks doing preliminary work on my feet, hands, arms and legs and whilst I don't practice every single day, I do most days.  I've had possibly 4 days where I've not felt anything, but continued with the practice session anyway.

My question thus far is, how long did you spend on the preliminary work before you moved on?  I'm just about to consider the energy bouncing exercises, but I feel I'm not quite ready yet.  I suppose my question is not so much how long did you spend, but how did you know you were ready to move on to the energy body circuit exercises?

Advice, as always, very appreciated.

  Thats great!  Sounds like you are getting over a major hurdle!  As far as your question, I personally haven't gone past working on individual areas yet.  I haven't had much time lately to work on much of anything (work is hecktic lately) but will continue to work energy through all the areas of my body until I get good energy sensations all over.  Best thing I can say is if you don't feel like you're quite ready, then perhaps your not quite ready?  Like what they say about love, when you're in it you just know.  I'm not suggesting you hold yourself back by any means, but if you remember Robert bruce mentioned that you can always do more work on basic energy channels.  Thats my input I guess :)  Best of luck!

The basic energy channels are very important so if you feel you need to do more work on these before moving on, then that is right for you.  I noticed my intuition increasing as I practiced NEW, and this is probably happening with you too, so you should definitely go with your feelings.

Massage works wonders as well!  Actually I had no idea how good it could be until I got in the bath last night and gave my legs, arms, neck & scalp a good deep massage rather than just wash & soak!  So it's part of my routine from now on.

I'm glad you're starting to get some feeling in your feet now; I'm sure that it won't be long before everything starts really taking off for you – it can happen quite suddenly!

The meditating is still very difficult but I'm working on it, specifically the breathing exercises.  I'm finding it hard to find a place where I can meditate, and I'm not able to shut out the outside world successfully at this stage, so will be putting a lot more effort into this side of things.

I have decided not to do any healing for the time being.  Although my healing has got much stronger since NEW, I've felt intense cold spots (negative energy?) when around some people and also after healing and feel it's important to clear my own blockages first, otherwise I will be getting nowhere fast.

All:

Although I do the full body circuit, I always start with the basic energy channels first and if I have a lot of resistance I just continue with that until such time I feel ready to move on.  At the moment, for example, I am feeling a lot of resistance in my legs/feet & arms/hands so I'm going to leave the full circuit until I've got them going again.

After freeing (or partially freeing?) a major blockage on Tuesday night (emotion/fear related), I found that trying to clear this has been rather difficult!  I spent the majority of yesterday just working on one leg, as it appears the blockage that I found in the heart area was getting "stuck" somewhere - it's hard to explain but it appears that the energy wanted to mainly go down my legs (not to sub-naval although I tried to place it there), so I am presuming it's negative energy that needs to go out rather than be stored.  On Tuesday afternoon my feet cleared so well they felt positively warm, yet on Wednesday afternoon I had major blockages there, also down my arms/hands.  RB says in NEW that you can clear blockages only for them to reappear later and it appears this has happened.  I think as you become more used to moving energy around your body you become better able to feel problem areas that perhaps you didn't notice before.

When I first started NEW I found it really easy to bounce along my legs & arms, a little more difficult with other areas, so I concentrated more on those.  Having worked on the full circuit I discovered blockages up the spine and down the front, but didn't want to focus energy directly to heart or sub-naval because of the warnings RB gives in NEW, so carried on with what I was doing, hoping they would clear of their own accord.  

I've been working on watching my reactions & feelings instead of acting upon them instinctively, and I think this has been slowly loosening several blockages.  On Tuesday night I had an amazing experience: I had a reaction on seeing someone (completely irrational btw) and I was shocked & surprised by the feeling of overwhelming fear, and also the pain that came with it which still felt tender for hours afterwards.  But it was like bursting an abscess to let the poison out and the whole right side of my body feels really clear & great now!  [:D]

I haven't had any lucid dreams for a while, nor any progress with AP.  Sarah, can you update us on your AP experiences?  You're miles ahead of me (and Dave?) in this area and it would be great to hear how you're progressing in your travels [:)]  Have you found meditating helps with this?

I'd also like to hear how you are all progressing with meditating; it's still a major stumbling block at this end [xx(]

Stephanie - I don't recall your edited post - never mind.  Things do start happening when you practice NEW, I agree.  With me, it is very subtle, almost imperceptible, but I'm aware of it.  Fleeting images that I'm sure I've seen before, slight deja vu, knowing what someone will say/do a nanosecond before they say/do it.  That kind of thing.

Massage

As to massage, my feet are the happiest feet in our household, with all the attention they are getting!  It certainly works.

Blockages

I haven't come across blockages yet (apart from my feet at the beginning).  I tend to find that sometimes everything works, and sometimes both legs don't respond.  I've never had little parts that don't work.  At the moment I'm taking this as a positive sign!

Reactions and Feelings

Watching your reactions and feelings - that's very interesting.  I do that occasionally automatically - it teaches you a lot about yourself doesn't it?  [:)]

Books

I've just started reading 'The Power of Now'.  I've only read the introduction and I'm reading it slowly, so I take it all in!!!

Meditation

I've started healing myself during meditation.  I visualise a little crew of construction men working on repairing my muscles.  I've only had one session so far, and I felt a bit silly, but I know with time, it will become easier and I'll start to really feel what my little men are doing.  I've come to the conclusion that one of the biggest factors (for me) with meditation is focus.  I am so prone to my mind wandering.  I have to bring it back to my muscles and the hard hats and JCBs.  If I remain focused, I get the job done and am unaware of everything else, including time.

AP/OBEs

I'm still having them, averaging once a week (that's been the same for about a year).  However, I'm having more 'interesting' experiences, such as finding myself in grey empty spaces (voids?) and going through colours and stuff.  More advanced, I think.  Actually Stephanie, I must tell you, the other night I could see a computer and was trying to get Astral Pulse up on the screen, so I could go into the posts, to tell you what it was like!!!  I didn't manage it.

Lucid Dreaming

Occasional, but I seem to forget what happens next after I've decided to go travelling [:(]  Hi ho.

Update on NEW

I continue with preliminary exercises on my feet, legs, hands and arms.  It is going well, and I get mild sensations, tingles and what I might describe as the tide coming up one's leg or arm during a calm sea.

Today, I decided to try the bouncing exercises.  My legs weren't playing, so I moved onto my arms.  Great success.  It felt like I had one of those plastic small tubes right in the centre of each arm, with cold water running up and down it.  As I bounced some more, the water stayed in the middle and when my awareness was at the hand, the water swayed towards my hand, when my awareness was at my shoulder, the water swayed towards my shoulder.  It was a very 'continuous' feeling, nothing like the tidal feelings.  And it was cold, but I didn't feel cold.  It was very deep, very central, and I am very pleased with this.

I then tried the spinal bounce.  My spine wasn't playing either, but this is something I definitely want to work on, as I get a lot of backache, especially at the bottom.

So, I feel I've moved a small step in the right direction.

Here is my update on the last week or so.

I'm getting better at the energy raising, due to something kenneth posted.  He said that to better feel the energy, you need to be focusing on your energy body, not your physical body, which made so much sense to me.  I seem to be able to feel my energy just sitting here typing this.  It's not that it's stronger, just easier to locate.

I've started the sub-naval raising and this is where I am at present.  

I'm away for a week or so, and I plan to continue with this and hopefully move on to stimulating the primary energy centres.  Because I've spent quite a while on the initial exercises, I feel confident enough to start moving a bit quicker now.  

I do miss the odd day still, and I occasionally feel I ought to be more dedicated, but I don't want it to become obligatory, otherwise I'll give it up (I know what I'm like!!).

  I have been having a good time at home thank you so much [8D], but unfortunately I have been busy as well, I'm sure you've heard of the hurricanes hitting Florida, so I've been dealing with those at home, I got sick shortly after arriving home (I did try some energy work when I noticed I was getting sick and I believe it helped, I think it could have been a lot worse), and now I am going out on a military mission to support FEMA because of these hurricanes.  So with all that and a few other things I haven't had time for energy work very much. LOL, heck I don't have enough time for more than 5 hours of sleep at night.  Anyway, I am looking forward to this latest hurricane to blow by, and hopefully get back to a semi-normal life.  Sounds like you've been doing great on your own Sarah, I can't wait to get back into it, and resume the group progress.  Take care everyone.

  Well I'm finally back from all that mess with hurricanes and everything else, I'm on vacation all this week (vacation at home relaxing :) ) and most of next week.  So I should have plenty of time to get back into the energy groove.  
  Seven:  Thats awesome that you got the astral dynamics book!  Like most people say on this website, it is a great read.  Enjoy!
  Selski:  How are the feet doing?  and are you still having moderately regular OOBE when you take your naps?  Hope everything is going alright for you.
  Me:  Well I woke up this morning remembering a dream I had, which is unusual for me, but its something I need to develop, lucid dreaming that is, and remembering dreams is the first step in that direction.  Other than that I'm going to settle down today and try to get a really good meditation session in and see how my energy body has been doing lately :)

Welcome Selski, Seven, and Utmost Certainty!!  First of all thanks for your interest in my original posting.  I think that we as a small group can help each other in our Energy/Meditation/OOBE goals.  Hopefully by maintaining a small group with similar goals we can encourage and help one another, without loosing focus like out in confusion of the general forums.  The only person I haven¡¦t been able to touch bases with is Seven, but from reading some of her postings I am confident her participation will be of great benefit to everyone.
I believe most of us are on slightly different levels as for our development and experiences but its my understanding that we are all looking to begin working on the same things, meditation and basic energy work.  As a result my vision for this group is to work on our meditation, our personal version of energy work (I.E. Mobile Body Awareness, Tactile Imaging, etc.), and eventually work toward projection attempts (RTZ or Astral).  As we progress individually we can post our progress, experiences, and ideas for others in the group to benefit from, in this way we can also help one another by offering our input and encouragement to each other when/if someone runs into the proverbial ¡§roadblock.¡¨
I may lead the group if you wish, but I would like it to be a group thing, and as such everyone has a say in our discussion direction.  I would just like things to say focused toward the subjects that brought the group together in the first place. ƒº

(I hate to detract from the subject already but I wanted to let everyone know that I also have interests in Healing as well.)

Hello all, i am well aware that this is a kind of private "group" thing, however i felt compelled to ask if i could be a part of it as i am sharing similar experiences to the group at this time:

I have begun experimenting with the NEW system within the last month..having done a full body circuit and am now trying to work on blockages in my legs;

I have just begun reading Power of Now;

I am very well versed in quieting the mind, yoga breathing, and such techniques;

I have had a few lucid dreams;

I am now aiming to being Astral projecting

I have no objection to you becoming a part of the group.

Nice to see you here.

I've just started doing full body circuits - I've been practicing NEW for about 4 months now and find the sensations have lessened somewhat.  I know this is a good thing, however, it's sometimes hard to continue with practice, when at the beginning, you felt very strong sensations, and now there's hardly anything.

Anyway, my next move is to start opening chakras.  It's just a matter of getting "round to it".  I've recently began playing on-line poker, which seems to be the priority these days...

Oh well, feed the addiction!

wow.. want me to add some synchronicity? i just joined my university poker club and spend far too much time watching it on the TV etc.

The feelings in my feet have diminished considerably since the first time so i guess i had better just keep going and start "charging" my circuit. The best feeling is when the energy moves through my face down from my third eye towards the naval storage.. one of my most favorite feelings of all time!

Well, if you play poker and watch too much of it on TV - you are definitely welcome to this group!!

If the feeling diminishes, move on.  I've probably spent far too long doing preliminary exercises - but I didn't want to go too fast.

My favourite feeling is when it goes past my ears on the way up - the "internal" noise in my ears changes as the energy goes past - a really wonderful sensation!  

However, I started raising energy to the base primary centre (chakra) last night, but didn't feel a thing - I think I need to get into the swing of it again - and luckily for me, you have inspired me to do so - so thank you for that.

Keep up the good work (and the poker) and keep me informed!
