im new to all of this and have been tryin over the last 2 weeks... im makin progress but came accross a technique that really relaxes your muscles...

take in as much breath as you can through your nose.... hold the breath.... allow your eyes to close normally... and then exhale all the air in your lungs in a low deep sigh.

some of you might know this technique

There's also a technique where you can tense the muscles in your body, then un-tense them.

Well, I've experienced relaxation of muscles simply by taking deep breaths. The extra air seems to circulate around the body. This occurs sometimes when I am saying a mantra for a long period of time.

Though, in my experience, you don't have to relax the muscles to achieve a conscious separation from the body. You just have to fall asleep consciously.

I read these two breathing methods are best:

1. As you inhale (through nose), imagine all of your muscles tensing. Hold for 3-4 seconds. Then, as you exhale (also through nose), imagine all the tension disappearing.

2. Breathe in for a count of four, hold for two, out for four, hold for two, in for four, hold for two, out for four, hold for two, on and on and on.

hmmm well i am also new to all of this. i have been trying for about 1 week now, various different things such as projection, closed eye visuals and psionics etc... One thing i never seem to be able to do is to fully relax. I can relax my whole body until it is sleeping without me, but everytime i swallow my saliva it brings back sensations to my body. I try to keep absolutely still to make my body sleep i never itch myself or anything. its just that consatnt swallowing... Anyone know a good way to get rid of this, or shouldnt that be stopping me ???

I have managed to ignore it for longer and longer periods, but after a while its just nagging at me and i cant get it out of my head...

The key point is stilling all of those random thoughts which bring about unconsciousness. With that, it is possible to simply do nothing and just fall asleep.

Mantras can have the effect of stilling mental activity. With the random thoughts which are taking place the attention is scattered. When saying a mantra you might notice that at points you loose attention on it, you stop saying it, and are temporarily thinking about something else...

I have said mantras for up to an hour or two and thereafter had conscious astral separations. The relaxation of the muscles, etc. was not even neccessary. Also, in my experience, when I have been practicing mantras daily, mental tranquility has come easier and astral projection, lucid dreams, etc. have occured on a daily basis.

PM me for a sound file of a mantra if you like. Mantras for astral projection are spoken mentally

Relaxation is not a physical activity. What I mean by that is, when you are in the right state of mind, your body will go limp.

So instead of focusing on relaxing the body, focus on deepening the trance state.
The mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art, and true science. Whoever does not know it and can no longer wonder, no longer marvel, is as good as dead, and his eyes are dimmed.

That's a good topic, Tetum.

I've found that focusing on the 7 Body Chakras and with each breath visualize what is called Universal Energy, or as some say 'just some real nice feelings', flowing down the mid-line of your body (from top of head down through Sacrum).

Just keep repeating this and try to keep in mind what you want to achieve: ASTRAL PROJECTION!!!

I've had some luck with this a few times. Overall, it gets me nice and relaxed and helps to deepen the Trance state.
