ive been trying very earnestly to achieve a state of inner silence. everytime i try i become extremely shotty in my thinking at first i do fine shooting down any stray thoughts but soon the magnitude of them takes over, is there any techniques some of you could reccomend to help sustain this inner silence?
well, the thing is you cannot actively shut down the internal dialogue. Trying to do that only makes more waves.
The best thing to do is just observe and let the thoughts go away in their own time.
After a while they start to appear less and less often and evetually disappear.

I typically just focus intently on something, like the back of my eyelids or the sensations of my body. For some reason it clears thought extremly well for me.
ive tried focusing on one thing for a while but my mind always ends up wandering again UGH!
