Sleep Paralysis

I have only had sleep paralysis on a couple of occassions, and both happened after a nightmare.

If you ever wake up in the throes of sleep paralysis, I would advise you to relax as much as you can.  Those who try and fight it will only get more aggitated and frightened.  Those who accept it for what it is and relax can easily turn the situation into an OBE.

If you don't want to project, but instead, you would rather get out of the paralysis, many suggest you try and wiggle your big toe.  This allows you to concentrate on a little part of your physical body, diverting your attention away from the paralysis for just enough time to break it.  Otherwise, the paralysis will eventually subside in 10-20 seconds.

to make it a pleasant experience ?

WHen yu induce that state, you must mentally push the energy trough you whole body 5 sec. going down and 5 going up. (trraining) After a few days your body will get used to this new sensation and the vibes should then rise in frequency what makes it a lot more comfourtable and then you are ready to project. It is impossible to project while the vibes are intense and rough.

Not too long ago someone from work asked me the same question, and nearly everyone i ask has had sleep paralysis at some time in their life. Sleep paralysis is a natural safeguard your body imposes to keep you from acting out your dreams, pretty smart. Jeff's advise is good, if you get it again and remember that its just sleep paralysis and will be gone in a moment, it may help calm your nerves. If not then moving the big toe or pinky finger works like a charm.

When you get more cofortable with sleep paralysis you may start to look forward to it because projection seems easier for some reason while paralyzed. You can say "im flying up" or if that doesnt work and your more tactile orientated you can feel as if there is your realtime body getting up out of your paralyzed one.

Best of luck!

I was wondering if anyone else has SP and what techniques they use to make it a plesant experience?

If you will it it is no dream.

Thanks for your advice guys.  I'm not exactly trying to stop it because I'm intrigued by the possibilities it presents.  I'd just like to better understand it so I can control it at my will.

This afternoon I was exhausted from a long night and a 9:30am meeting with my boss.  When I got home I tried Monroe's steps 1 - 3 and quite effortlessly, hit step 4 and began virbrating.   They were very rough vibrations, very turbulant, as if my ears would pop.  But I was so happy that I induced the state on my own that I tried to keep the vibrations for as long as I could.

About 10 seconds in to the vibrations I heard a voice in comming from my left (the north).  I was lying facing the east because I find that couch more comforting.  The voice said "Can you hear me?"  It was a very familiar voice, and I was curious to find out what it was.  But I instinctively was too scared to acknowledge it by saying "Yes, I can hear you!"  And I wound up not responding to it.

I did try to roll out of my body and physically go see it.  I really felt as if I was about to roll out, and I thought the voice would see me attempting to go see her and not be offended by my failure to respond to her in words.  But then I realized that I had indeed ignored her and that threw me off my train of thought to leave my body.  At this point the experience had ended.   It lasted about 20-30 seconds.  It was quite relaxing actually.  I would normally be horrified, but the voice was so plesant and familiar.  I felt a nice peace afterwards.

I have a couple of questions though.  Does anyone know why everything remained black under my eyelids.  I could not see my environment.  I  could hear and 3D and felt like I could orient myself with my ears but what's up with not being able to see anything.  After the pattern that hits me with the onset of the vibrations everything goes black.

Ack, it happens sometimes, the blindness.  The next time it happens to you, just think "Sight NOW," I hear it works.

If "Sight NOW" does not work, try "Main screen turn on!"

First off, congrats on your experience!  That is awesome!  Now I will address your question:

It is not uncommon to project and not see anything.  In fact, this was my biggest problem for almost a YEAR!  I know, I'm a slow learner!

You may find that in a lot of your projections, immedietely after separating from your body, you are in a black void.  You can FEEL your surroundings, but you can't see anything.  Here are some things you should do to fix that annoyance:

1) Move away from the vicinity of your physical body.  Even though you can't see anything, you can feel your way around.  For example, I usually stumble forward with my astral arms outwards until I feel my door.  I then make my way down the hall of my house and my vision slowly kicks in then.

2) Take a few astral breaths.  With each breath that you take in, feel yourself becoming more lucid, and imagine your vision kicking in.  This seems to work 100% of the time for me, because it relaxes me and takes my mind off the blackness long enough to let my natural astral sight kick in.

3) Demand to see by mentally affirming, "Clarity now!"  The astral is a place influenced by thoughts, and by declaring your intent to see, you can usually force your vision to kick in.

All three of these techniques have worked for me in the past, but I consitently use number two the most.  Taking in a few relaxing astral breaths not only calms me down, but it seems to make things not seem so "rushed" and the experience lasts longer.

Let's face it, most of us wish these projections lasted a lot longer than they do.  We either become too excited, too frustrated, or too tired to maintain any form of lucidity.
