switching focus states while in the physical?

I read somewhere in... i think major tom's thread about focus 10 and there was a quote that someone was in the gateway facility and they switched through focus states... one was a feeling of no time where they actually saw halos around a tree and he communicated with it through feelings.... is this possible? if anyone can ifnd the quote can you put it in here cause i can't find it again
